Man i Thought my 4 hrs was gonna stand a chance.

I know this one guy (you know him too :D) that leaves his running all night long on wheeling trips. Here we are tying to wake him making sure no CO had gotten him. Lol

Is that @beno truck before he capsized it?

My Torque app says I burn between .5-.6 gallons per hour at idle. .8 with AC on.

Side question if I may; do you guys leave the truck running during wheeling trips? I usually shut it off for 'get-out-and-BS/enjoy-the- scenery' stops.

rarely. About the only time I will is if someone is broke and know it will be awhile to repair, even then....

About 12 hours or so

I don't really like to idle any vehicle, but when working out in the field, it's necessary to have A/C and emergency strobe lights going

Whenever she needs to idle more than a few minutes, I set the hand throttle to about 1200-1300rpm's so that all the accessories run more effectively :meh:

Perhaps.... ;) Now about this other incident ???

Onur's 80 is still running strong on 5 of 6 cylinders. It's been years since he rolled it, if that's the capsize you speak of. We wheeled at Golden Mountain last fall and he wheeled it again with ONSC and Logan's Run.

I left my 80 running at Golden Mountain last fall over night all three nights. Mainly to keep the windows defogged as it was raining so much. But that is the norm rain or not when sleeping in the truck during the fall season.

I would say 10-14 hrs for me. Either wheeling during the day or for heat at night.

When i lived in Alaska some vehicles were never turned off. I worked for the city and they would just idle them outside non-stop in the winter.

Did anyone experience overheating during/after extended idling?

Nope. Never overheated. But I did forget my 80 running with the heat blowing high and lights on for two hours. I just shut it off. it didn't like starting the next morning when it was -10. crappy alternator!! it started but it was a struggle.

There are perks to living in Iowa. One of them is that people don't steal your car. Granted, if they did I could probably catch them on foot. hahaha

So yesterday evening at 7pm I started up my cruiser to shake off the cold that we can't get away from up here in the north east. I then proceeded to forget it was running until just now at 3pm. My truck was running for 19 hours straight after adjusting for day light saving...good thing I had a full tank.

How long have you run your engine for non stop?

We never have that problem in Arizona, because we don't do Daylite Savings Time.

Ran it yesterday for 4 hours yesterday tugging and winching posts out of the ground. I recall reading on here somewhere that these motors (1fz) were used in material handling equipment in South America and was built for long duration, low RPM operation.

Yup, the motor was used in fork lifts.

The 1FZ was used in forklifts? I thought the 3FE was used in tractors. :)
