How important is this exhaust shield? (2 Viewers)

Thank @inkpot. I too use my wife as a berometer for all sorts of stuff. Usually it's to see how much trouble I'm in when I spend too much money on the 80, surfboards or guns. I'll get some insulation as a few of you have mentioned to help the hot foot effect and get some more shielding for underneath.

I would think header wrap would be the way to go. Cuts way down on heat, easy to apply, and it won't make any noise. That's what is going on my exhaust as soon as I get off my butt, and go work on it!

Got a picture? I think I have the same thing going on right now.
Here ya go. Clamp to prevent rattling.

When it comes to hot floor try thermozite, just installed it and made huge/night and day difference on floor temp. And it's only 80 bucks and some elbow grease to do.
do you have a photo to where you wrapped it? did you wrap it around the cats or heatshield? Or under carpeting?

Don't use header wrap. It tends to hold moisture as well and will rot out the exhaust in that area. Ceramic coating is better for that, an a heat shield.

The Thermozite is a liner under the carpet. It might even be a spread on bucket of material that I saw posted one here somewhere.....

Oh the thermozite is for the floor insolation inside. Some people use stainless steel zip tie and put another piece of metal as heat shield around that section of the exchaust.

Phil, you used the heavy metal cats, correct? I realize they are more expensive but...
