How good is your gas mileage?!

Yesterday, I drove from Mammoth Lakes, CA to my home in El Dorado Hills, a 213 mile route. The route follows the 395 north and includes driving up mountain passes including the monitor pass up through tahoe. I was generally going the speed limit +5 mph.

Other facts:
- family of four
- 5 days of camping gear
- Fully packed KISS drawers, ARB 50 qt, goal zero lithium 1000
- 91 octane
- “Ect power” on the whole time
- 40 psi
- 285/70/17 BFG load range C
- OME suspension

Miles: 213.465,
Gallons:10.82
MPG: 19.73

Any vehicle, including a land cruiser will get better mileage going downhill at 65 ish mph.
I have a stock J100....40 lbs in tires.

For example Redding to Burney on 299 - 13mpg

Burney to Redding- 19.5mpg

Speed plays a factor too.. last tank I got 12.5 because I was cruising at 80
This tank is a lot better since I've been around 65-70

Yeah, don’t want to confuse it with all those other roads called 395.

That's just a SoCal affectation...numbered roads always get a "the" before the number.

My last fill up showed 17.4 mpg over 240 miles...half in-town and half freeway...running in the PERF mode and doing manual shifting in town.

Chevron 91 octane ethanol-free gas. Thought the calculator was goofy the first time, but got the same number a second time.

I know why the "t he"s are used. It goes back to when freeways still had names, like The Warren Freeway, or the Pacific Coast Highway...but it is kind of superfluous if your referring to a numbered road.
I have to admit, as a northern Californian, it reminds me of "the" Dodgers.

I have 2013 LC with OME and 285/70/17 BFG Load range C, third row removed with KISS drawers. I work from home so many of my miles are camping trips with a family of 4 and north shore rack loaded with mountain bikes, goal zero lithium 1000 and packed 100% full.

With my setup, I’ve noted the ODO says 100 miles when I’ve traveled 105 via gps tracking, the speedometer says 70 when I’m going 72-73 and the MPG and range computer are pretty accurate.

i run 91 octane and don’t baby it.

I made an App for my iPhone that takes ODO miles multiplies by 1.05 and records gallons used and mpg. I don’t record every tank, as my wife often drives it and I just don’t.

2021 LC 200, 87 Octane, south Texas (31ft ASL), 275's (33.2"), no bumpers, sliders, aftermarket rack, drawers, etc. These are hand calculated averages taking into account the larger tire size as well over the course of a year. I saw slightly better highway numbers in the 2019 LX with similar tire size.

I just fill up when it says range is zero. Knowing that if I must, I probably got anywhere from 20-50 miles after that in an emergency.

Where I care about range is off-road, and for that it all goes out the window anyway.

That's cool if that's what you do, but I'm getting 10-20% more range than that with confidence. Big difference.

Couldn’t you argue that it is better to keep the fuel pump with the 4 gallons of fool in the tank as toyota intended? Cooling? Lubrication? Not an expert by any means, but that’s what I always thought.
