Tires: BFG KO3 285/70 R17
Suspension: Wescott Designs PreLoad Collar Kit

It's time to take some small steps with my LC 200. The goal is to make it a bit more capable off-road by adding some clearance, without sacrificing much when it comes to driving comfort and handling. How does this plan look to you?

Is the Wescott kit necessary to get the clearance I need for that tire size? I'm okay with some mild trimming and pull of the fender liner, but I don't want to do a CMC and dont want to replace the UCAs at this time. I've only built out a Tacoma and Tundra, so this is a whole new world to me. haha

People always say that but it's not that simple. <5% rub while off-road, fully stuffed and the front wheel cranked to one side is acceptable to me. 15% is not. I wouldn't limit the tire size to eliminate the rub. That tire that is rubbing at full stuff has a lot of weight on it. Traction won't be a problem on that wheel. The other 3 wheel could benefit from the larger tire. Now, if only I could get a bumpstop that changes height based on steering angle.

A lift with lowered bumpstops and extended length shocks is also acceptable to me. The lift with lowered bumpstops will fit larger tires.

You’ll likely have minor rubbing especially at wheel lock in reverse. That’s my real world experience

Yup. My wheels are Icon vector 5s with very similar offset to yours.

I have the Dobinson IMS system w/ about 2.5" of lift. Added UCAs at the time which it sounds like you don't want to do. I'm not familiar with the westcott kit you mentioned.

It's a grille badge from Runnin4Tacos. I've had it on all my builds over the years. It follows me. Haha

Add some color to the front of your grille! These will fit most Toyota grilles, they are installed by clamping the grille in between the front & back piece. Available in standard 3 color housing or with R4T logo housing. Do not overtighten! Product is made of acrylic and will snap if bent too...

Probably late on this.

As another strategy, I'm a big proponent of less suspension lift and more tire (lift). In addition there maybe a better opportunity for lift and performance with upgraded shocks, while keeping all the ride goodness of stock spring rates.

Namely Bilstein 5100 shocks all around. Allows selectable lift up from with an adjustable perch. I would recommend 2" lift position which keeps the geometry in its sweet spot with no UCAs required.

Add a 30mm spacer on the stock rear spring.

285/70R17 is a great drop in size. With room to go more aggressive if you like and I'd recommend a 295/70r17. Pair with a 1" spacer on stock wheels, or aftermarket with an effective offset of +30-45mm.

This will be a higher performing setup with more control but all the goodness of factory ride.
