How Do you Test this Thing??

They call it a Vacuum Switch. How does it work? I tried a vacuum test then put 12 volts to it to see if the vacuum dropped but I get nothing. Got lost in the OHm test the manual says to do.
Does it open like a solenoid?
Anyone got a Toyota part number?
I'm cornfused.

use a continuity tester. One probe on the tang and one probe on the body (threads). Put a vacuum hose on the end and use a vacuum pump or suck. When you have pulled a couple of inches of vacuum you will hear the continuity beeper beep.

Per Dynosoar's tip I tested the Vacuum Switch with my Sunpro test-o-meter.
When hooked up with no vacuum it tests at between 1.2 and .8 ohms with the audible beep telling me there is continuity.
When I get up to about 4 inches of vacuum the beep goes off and a 1. is displayed. According to the manual it signifies no continuity.
So I guess i'm good to go?
