I can't be the only one who opted not to pay Bucko Bucks for top of the line something I need to peel out on to get unstuck. I called ARB in Seattle and said what is your warranty on those spendy Tredds and they said don't melt them and spin your tires and we will warranty them. I'm like HUH??? If I'm stuck that's how I unstick myself is try to get traction on something... anything. What part of recovery do you not get? I'm already stuck and your product is to get me unstuck. Guarenteed there is gona be at least a little wheelspin.... It's the nature of the Beast. Now I gotta figure how to mount some knock off Maxxus from Ammo that I can spin the crap out of 'em until they either shoot out or sink in as long as I'm free no matter. I've never got stuck at a good time. Does anybody else feel the same?

Is your truck pretty? Or is it functional? If it’s pretty the. You need a $4000 rack system so you don’t scratch your paint while you drive to Starbucks. If it’s functional I maybe a good excuse to eliminate the rear side windows and mount one on each side?

I’ll think about it some more after I get my Starbucks order 😂

My method (although I don't actually have the cheap knockoff Maxtrax yet):

1. Buy some used gutter-mount roof bars on craigslist for $50.
2. Buy a folding aluminum ATV ramp on Fleabay for $100.
3. Saw off the extraneous bits and maybe rattle-can the thing with $30 worth of semi-gloss black primer.
4. Bolt it to the roof bars with $20 worth of u-bolts from the hardware store.
5. Ratchet-strap your junk to your new roof rack.
6. Carry everything you need and more to Moab and back. Get a 2mpg penalty from wind resistance.
7. Be a little annoyed at the low hum it makes at highway speeds.
8. Start thinking about spending $2k on a rear bumper with a swing-out so you can just throw your Scepter fuel cans back there instead of carrying gas on the roof.

Probably going to get the knockoff traction boards to go play in the desert in Anza Borrego right after Xmas, well before I actually get a tire carrier, so I'm also probably going to try to figure out a cheapskate tie-down solution which will hopefully transfer to the eventual tire carrier.

There's only one small sand dune in Anza Borrego Desert state park. No traction pads needed.

Although I never got traction pads, I certainly thought about them when doing a lot of beach driving. The way I envisioned carrying them was on the roof rack tucked in next to other stuff and out of the way. You'll rarely if ever use them if you air way down and don't take your cruiser dumb places, so my conclusion was they were a last ditch extraction device that didn't need to be at the ready. I wouldn't have minded to unload a lot of the roof rack to get to them (if I had them).
My roof rack of gear would get covered with a heavy duty tarp then very strong fishing net & all lashed down, so getting stuff off of there wasn't ever really quick anyway

LOL.... good stuff guys. Not much sand here tho, snow and runoff not wanting to check how deep the pool is brfore you dive in because you'll be sure to freeze ur nuts off for the rest of day. Theres been times I had to snowmobile to the store for supplies here before they paved the road. AndMr. Geologist I got ur ticket for the tire carrier is a 1990 something 4runner swingout bolts right to your bumper and you can stap it shut with trucker bungees you pick up on I-95 this winter cause heaven knows I lost a trillion of em running right through your town on my way to Lewiston. Oh... that's around where the swingout flew off also- it was gone when I got there.
