yep. i just put it on the tire rack and tightened the lug nuts on.

I just used the lower 4 bolts and raised the bracket up, and some 1/2" spacers, this is for 10.5" 33" on OEM rims This Is temporary for now

I have some one making a 3/16" plate with 8 bolt pattern that will cover the lower 6 bolt holes and two more above the tire mount.

NIce!!
Were did you get the top?

There are 2 ways to mount a wider spare on the stock rack.

1. Put spacers between the 6 bolts that hold the tire/wheel holder on the swing gate which will space out the holder from the swing gate. (see above picture)

OR

2. Cut the tack welds on the 3 wheel studs that stick through the tire/wheel holder and put longer bolts through the holes. Use 2 nuts on each bolt to space it out as far as you need to.

I went with method 2 since it seemed to be a little more sturdy than counting on the 6 small diameter bolts. Just my preferance.

I have a 33 x 12.50 on mine with plenty of room left over.

Thanks Freak. Thats a great idea! Might you post a pic of that setup?

Thanks,

I have two 7" long pieces of square tubing, 1.5" ID with 1/8" wall (1.75" total outside) between the swing door and the tire bracket, with longer bolts. There are sleeves over the bolts to keep the tubing from collapsing. Heavier walled tubing would negate the need for this. This works just fine for my 12.50 x 33 15" tires. I did not have to raise up my bracket from the stock height. When open, the tire swings to 90 degrees and the tread just touches the corner of the body.

One consideration for those who are rock crawling in tight places is that a large diameter spare can protrude from the side of the truck. A 33" tire will stick out about 1.75" from the side. This is not quite as far as the door handle. But being on the rear corner, it's more susceptible to striking something than the door handle. It's a consideration if you routinely get into tight places. In this case, I'd either offset the carrier bracket on the door, or go to a bumper mounted spare with a centered tire. For me, it's not an issue.

Here ya go. Like I said, just cut out the tack welds and put in new, longer, grade 8 bolts. I used 2 nuts to space out the tire so it would clear the swing out door easily.

I used 2" x 1" box steel to move it up one bolt hole. Just moving the tire carrier up one notch didn't give me clearance on tire width. The top bolt was welded in and cut flush. The tires are 33x9.5x15 BFG TA KO.
