So I'm looking for a 7 seater.

LX, LC or GX 470.

But I haven't driven any of them. How do I figure out if they are large enough for me without actually handling one?

There are two options I can think of:
1. Slimy dealers with older cars.
2. Friendly owners in my area.

In everyone's experience here, what's the easiest way?

A tad bigger than a 4Runner but smaller than a land cruiser

Look for one at a real dealership.

We purchased ours from a Lexus Dealer. No pressure, easy transaction. Funny thing though, I wrote a check but, had to do a credit check to purchase it. My wife and I still laugh about that.

It's a bit smaller than our '96 Land Cruiser, but it's faster, quieter, better MPG...

I wanted to buy from a sweet old person that babied and never drove it but we ended up at a dealer. Great truck with a very good service history. ALWAYS LOOK FOR A GOOD SERVICE HISTORY.

Get on the internet, find a GX near you at a dealer and just go drive it. Then decide.

The GX470 is not going to comfortably seat seven adults. Go for a 100 series or better yet a Sequoia. Also, the Latch layout and width of the rear seats is only sufficient for two car seats and some storage room between them. So if you have two car seats you can only seat a max of 6, and have fun getting in the fold down third-row seats. Realistically we can fit 4 adults and two kids in car seats plus a little extra space for stuff, because after all, you are not packing that many in without some extra stuff. Sure you can pack it like a clown car and squeeze people in, but that is not fun or safe.

Not looking to do that. More see how much space there will be if certain areas are occupied.

2 kids 3 adults and a dog is what I'm looking at right now. Maybe add either a 4th adult or a 3rd kid on the future.

Here are some terrible pictures I just snapped, but you can see how full the truck is with just two car seats and my junk. The Diono is one of the narrowest car seats on the market too.

Suburban, or the long-wheelbase Escalade.:flipoff2: The Escalade comes with a better motor & trans, as well.

Seriously, though: the 3rd row seats in our GX, as well as in both our 80-series Cruisers, are (were...) nothing but unwanted ballast. The fact that this is declared a seating area for motor vehicle passengers is a really bad joke. Trying to get in there thru the rear doors is one thing; not sure the hatch is the designated access? Trying to get out from back there without help from outside in case of an accident might be quite another.

To beat a dead horse, the interior space is not the greatest in the GX. Even the second row is cramped compared to smaller unibody crossovers. My second vehicle is a '15 X5 and it's got way more space in the second row.

You need a Suburban. :)

Grab your family and all what you travel with. Go to a slimy dealership demand a test drive! Load your clan drive around for no less than 20 min (Seriously set a timer). Go home and start looking at private sales. Use the drivers.lexus.com trick to scrape dealer service histories. Make an offer. Join the club.
Conversely lowball the the living **** out of the dealer (offer trade in value at first but shoot for $1k above trade in I mean slimy or not they need to eat too), and walk away, near the end of the month they might call you to get their numbers up.

With the seats folded up you can easily get 7-8 tires in it with out trying, probably 10 if you stacked them and 12 if you were a master. I dont know what this translates to tiny humans dont have any of those.

I'd probably be looking at a Sequoia for that, or maybe a 200-series.

GX will be too small for sure. Sequoia or 200 for sure in Toyota land.

Wow guys, thanks for the feedback!

I went to look at a 460 (470 was sold when I got to the dealer) and it's too small. I mean it will fit 3 kids and a dog (plus the two adults). But I'd probably need a trailer to carry anything else. 100 looks much larger.

I don't want a 200, I'd be too scared to get it damaged. So around the $10k mark. I'm also looking into TCO for a $10k LC.

A 100 could work, but would still be tight with that many people/animals/cargo. You may have to look at a yukon XL to get all that together in that price range! lol

Go to Carmax, that is the best place to test drive a bunch of vehicles at one time.
