So, I'm gearing up to overhaul my rear brakes (getting all new hardware, wheel cylinders, shoes, and gonna get the drums turned somewhere locally), but I also want to freshen up the fronts while I'm at it. New pads are easy, but I'm not sure what to do about the calipers.
First off, I don't want to drop >$500 on a set of brand new OEMs.
I also don't want to rebuild mine myself if I can avoid it, but I will if the other options are bad enough.
So, the question is, what's the least labor-intensive solution to 'baselining' my front brakes that's appreciably cheaper than swapping them with brand new OEMs? Are the $48 reman'd ones NAPA sells really not worthwhile? Or are they just less of a sure thing than the $250+ brand new OEMs? Are 'toyota remans' for ~$90 a piece actually going to be better than the NAPA ones, or just less likely to have been assembled wrong at the factory?
