Howdy! I took a group up thru the box north of Wickenburg a few years ago. Stayed in the river til we got to Fools Canyon, then headed back to the Constelation Mine Rd. Ended up touring thru some of the old mines. Took the northern route back towards Lake Pleasant. Very scenic, easy run for stockers. Just got to watch out for those motorcycles that want to be wheel chocks! John

Sounds great John! I know about the motorcycles, however at least it's not as bad as running 11 mile wash over by the Verde River (Needle Rock!).

Are you down for going inkpot?

John

Howdy! I am out for the Nov 2 weekend, but maybe on the 8th or 9th. Depends on how much progress I make on a carpentry project I am doing that week. Haven't been over there in a few years. I'll have to do a little research on the routing I took on that trip. John

I am in for this run!

Great! I am excited that so many are down for this! I would like to lock down the date - I am offering up 11/9/08 as the OFFICAL date! How does this sit with everyone? I know Inkpot is open for this date, any objections?!

John

P.S. - this honestly is the best weekend for me as this is my weekend with my oldest daughter, so I will have both kids (5 & 6 yr old girls)

Ok, unless otherwise argued - confirmed for 11/9, Running Box Canyon out of Wickenburg.

Meeting location: I suggest the Texaco @ Bell Rd. & 101 - West side of 101, south side of Bell Rd(unless someone knows of a Gas station around Grand & Bell area)

Meeting Time: 9:00am (it is Sunday - suggestions open for change of time)

All input and recommendations still welcomed. Open floor.

So far I have the following attending:

LUV24BY - 4 people total, may be more
SWOWIE - UNKNOWN amount
KLITTLEFIELD - UNKNOWN amount
INKPOT - TENTATIVE
CKAYA84 - UNKNOWN AMOUNT

Am I missing anyone or has anyone's plans changed to allow them to attend?

John

Where exactly is the trail head? Is it off of the 89/93 in Wickenburg?

The road, IIRC, is called RINCON ROAD a little under 2 miles from the 93/89 turn in Wickenburg. Someone correct me if I am mistaken. This is the turn off where you turn Right @ the light. 1.8 miles from there would be Rincon Rd.

John

I will be coming with two confirmed rigs including myself. I'm going to stop for gas at the Shell at 30216 Hwy 60, Wickenburg, AZ‎.

What is the planned meeting time at the trail head off of Rincon Rd?

Maybe we could take a picture for MadBaggins Tortuga? If you look on Google maps at a surface street south of the Y where the 93 splits from the 60 a street sign reads "W Via Tortuga."

Howdy! Yea, Rincon sounds about right. Takes you down thru some older ranch-type properties, then right onto the river bed. I hope to go, but I won't know for sure til the last minute. John

Buldog is a 2WD trail basically, but really pretty. I pulled a LONG-ish run once by doing Lower to Upper Sycamore, then accross the hiway to the Fourpeaks entrance to Saguaro coves, then out to the Bush hiway down to the north entrance to Bulldog and down to the South entrance. It was a long day but a beautiful run. Easy too!

You have not been to Willow-Springs in Bull dog canyon. Because you cant make up Willow Springs in Bull dog canyon:flipoff2:

Also, how about timeframe and distance traveled up into fools canyon? I will ave to map out the route and see how many miles it is. I will let you know!

Thanks!

John

Boy, this is gonna be a good turn out! I am getting psyched for this run! Thanks for all the response and for bringing other along! Depending on how many Heeps we have wil determine how many tow straps & recovery gear we'll need to bring!

Well, there's that...and all the distractions. Kevin's a tad ADD, between work projects, MUD, friends stopping by the shop, other people stopping by the shop, me calling to BS...:grinpimp:

WTF are you talking about

this man has never been anything but a true professional :steer:

...BS'er. :D

First and foremost the recovery equipment *IS* for me, and on that note - I do like to share, so my mentioning it wasn't as a slap to someone's face, rather I would hate to be the only one to be recovered!
