I'm getting ready to install a Mosley Holley Sniper kit on my '78 2F and was wondering if I should open up 2bbl phenolic spacer to match the intake opening or leave it as is. The adapter plate that came with the kit is completely open and sits on top of this spacer. I'm inclined to open it up but thought I would ask first. Thanks.

Open if breaks or not happy with out come these from Redline are nice.https://redlinelandcruisers.com/shop/60series/fj60-2f-sniper-kit/2f-manifold-adapter/

Thanks for the response. Those things are pricey!

I did not open up my spacer and I am happy with the performance on my Sniper install. Perhaps it would be better if I had opened it up, but better is often the enemy of good enough.

After 48 years of use, my spacer was slightly warped, so I did use a fly cutter on both surfaces of the spacer to make sure it was flat.

Ain't that the truth!

I didn't think about that. I'll put a straight edge on mine before I go any further. Thanks!

It looks like if you open it up you run the risk of the gaskets not being able to make a good seal. Proceed at your own risk!

Everything above and below the spacer is open (plenum & adapter plate). Only the spacer is 2bbl, so that's why I was thinking about opening up the spacer.

Opening it up might help or hurt. I'm not familiar with the Sniper injection. Is it setup like a 2 barrel?

The Sniper is set up like a 2bbl carb. The adapter plate that it bolts to is open. The spacer is directly beneath the adapter plate. Here are pics of each...

FWIW: Here is the spacer with my Sniper install from 2/4/2020. About 15,000 miles later, I'd say one of the best upgrades I've done to my rig.

Thanks for the feedback. Maybe I'll just leave it as is...
