That’s great news. I’m waiting to see just what improvements you can get out of it. I just picked up a DUI unit so let us know.
@cstav86 and @mrboatman Will do, after I work on my FJ40, I too tired to do anything else but write about it 😂

I hope it ships out quickly so I’ll be able to get to it asap. I saw a video from Holley that retro fits the Hyperspark to the Sniper..basically 4 wires and timing. I have a really nice DUI and it’s tuned so well that the truck just idles and has no hesitation in a quick hard press of the accelerator. I’d also bought a new cap and module to have as a spare when I got this truck that is still in the box. . .something will go up for sale. I will try my hand at YouTube video stuff on this install

look forward to the results. I have nice DUI and A Sniper kit ready to install on my '68 F. Curious if the Hyperspark is all the Hype

One of my most enjoyable YouTube video producers is Lone Wolf Works, @zerotreedelta . He has a gigantic series on rebuilding his FJ40 and this one here is on running the engine using the Sniper and Hyperspark distributor.

Mine is still waiting to be shipped from Mosley…I can’t wait either. I have read several things about the benefits when set up properly. With my current D.U.I. Performance Distributor… my 40 is a dream to start, run and drive. But I enjoy the opportunity to dig in and try a few new things. So I am looking forward to getting into it

I should have add this video of his on modifying the Holley Hyperspark system for the 2F engine… he has done an excellent job

About 2500 miles on my setup, still humming along happily. I did a fairly "stock-ish" timing curve and a basic fueling map...I'm still tempted to find a wheel dyno around here and do some better tuning on both the fuel and spark map just to see what might be left on the table. Granted, it's still pretty much a tractor motor at the end of the day. 😆

My inexperience with fuel mapping or timing curves will severely limit my “potential” but I am not afraid to jump in head first as long as it’s easy to go back to the default. I am so lacking the knowledge and practice it may be catastrophic to think I can even try…BUT, I will.

My immediate impressions with the Sniper EFI and increasing the timing is a noticeably smoother idle and an immediate response to the throttle press whether gradually or stomped on. I’ve run out of a few things to keep doing and this is a project I can do in a weekend or a day.

My steering knuckles need a rebuild so that’s my upcoming end of summer, beginning of fall. Looking for all the parts now A to Z

Any new information

Any new information on this? I'm contemplating this for a winter project. I need to do a few more things to baseline my engine like a compression test, but it seems healthy, was rebuilt when the PO owned it, and my only real beef with the rig is the low quality Empi Weber copy that was installed at some point.

Not @knuckle47 , but I did manage to find a dyno shop nearby. The 40 is parked for the salty WI winter at this point, but it's on my list to poke at taking it there in the spring for some live tuning on the rollers. Ideally, should quantitatively see what effects any fueling (Sniper) and or timing (Hyperspark) tweaks have on the ol' 2F. In theory, one could also do a 91 tune vs 87 tune, but that seems like overkill. 🙃

@zerotreedelta I know you have been speaking about the demo…it may prove to be a real eye opener

@jhynesrockmtn This is where my issues were… I would have preferred the original carb but it came to me with a Weber and honestly, it ran well once warmed up. My problem was likely two fold. Aside from the starting problems from sitting for weeks on end, it turns out my timing was not advanced enough. I was using the Performance Duistributor DUI distributor but acceleration was hesitant on cold acceleration and a little on warm running.

I didn’t check this initialy as the truck ran well….it ran so well that the EFI box sat on a shelf in my garage for 16 months before it was installed. My Hyperspark was on back order for about 7 weeks and in the interim I had acquired a new timing light and adjusted the DUI …made a nice difference with the EFI. When I added the Hyperspark, I feel it’s even better. This truck starts in the cold as if it were a 2024 vehicle. I am very happy with it. It no longer cranks and cranks until it coughs and then starts, starts and restarts. It is now instantaneous
