What brand of headlights are these, where did u get them? Hid lights?

They are called DEPO lights. Got them of Ebay year ago. Xenon

Took a little trip to glacier Langjökull last weekend. Great weather and lots of snow. Tire pressure was about 1.5psi to get some traction and float.

Behind me is a Nissan Patrol on MT 46" with 5.9 Cummings in the hood (400hp).

But was much heavier than me and did´t have same traction

Hi there i am from Iceland, and I have a modified Land Crusier 80 1994. My father-inlaw owns the truck but I have him in my possession and I do most the maintenance.
I will post here the modification on the truck and future plans.

Modification:

Body lift 4"
Spring lift 2"
Fender flares custom made in iceland
OME front springs
Original rear springs
Rear axel moved about 5" backwards
Original gear ratio in axel 4:10
Front mounted intercooler
3" exhaust
Extra disel tank fitted under the truck at the rear where the spare tire used to be. about 120liters and an electronic pump to pump in the original tank
Aircon modified to pump air
Custom front bumper(what do you guys call it), made of steinless A4. which is also a air tank
12000 pound Come UP winch, it´s fitted so I can take it of. I can fit it where the yellow hook is at the front in the picture below
12v/220v converter and 12v/19v inverter
Garmin 276c - Motorola GM360 VHF - Cobra CB and 10" laptop which I connect to the gps

Future mods:

Lift the truck a little bit more and fit Mickey Thompson 46x19.5x16 Baja Claws
16" wheels with beadlock, 18" wide
New fender flares, longer and wider
New axel ratio 4:88
New front axel (custom made front axel which will be combined of original front axel and 60 cruiser rear axel, I want the 9" center)
New front axel Chromoly Birfield
Extra low gear(crawler box)
Paint job DONE
New lights with paint job. Front xeon, rear and turn ligths. DONE
Safari snorkel DONE
Custom home made drawer in the trunk. DONE
Custom home made roof rack (still designing it, I like the GOBI look)
Custom home made rear tire mount (but instead of a tire I will have a box for my cable) and shovel, iron man and jack all 60"
Bigger turbine (that blows about 16pounds)

These are so cool looking that it almost makes you want to move to the northland to justify having one.

Your HDJ Looks Great We used to run the 44" Cepeks on our rig as well, they are great tires. We had the Michelin X's for a couple years, but now moved over to the TSL SX's. Whenever you get to doing your lift, MT46", and gears- let us know... we can send you anything you need by ocean freight

Sorry if I missed this in an early response, but do you guys in the real snow not carry a spare? If so, where do you put it?

Thx man. We normally don´t have spare tires but standard in my truck is a repair kit.

Rescue mission

Got a call on saturday night (20:00). Friend had busted a tire in a weekend tour. We went on two truck (mine and 38" hilux) with a spare tire for him. We thought it would be a easy tour max 6 hours and little snow, we only had one sandwich each with us. We where wrong. Lots of snow, trouble and slow driving. We where 19 hours driving until we got home (15:00 on sunday). But it was a great trip.

Here are some pics

Alot of snow, no traction. I was driving in 2-4 psi

We tried to cross this river to get to the hut. But it was too deep and to frosen. I probably would have craked or broken my headlights trying to brake the ice

I went in to try but returned half way through the river

Tire went of the rim.

Crossing icey river, tire went of ther rim there the second time.

After I pulled him out of the river.

The rope was used much this night. 38" hilux had trouble in the snow, he needs bigger tires

Then we got to the truck but no owner, he was sleeping in the hut . We changed it for him and went our way. They tried fixing the tire before calling us

Swingout for rope and more

Just finished the swingout for the box. Still haven´t decided to put the hi-jack and shovel on the box. The rope will be stored in the box and other wet stuff.

Found this on ebay. Fellow mud member pointed this out for me.

Magni your truck is fantastic! The terrain you have there in Iceland in some ways looks so similar to what you find in Kodiak Alaska, not many trees to be found! Thanks for sharing your latest trip, looks like we need to modify our toys in a similar manner to explore the far reaches of our little island nation. I'm sure you mentioned it before, but where did you source the LED lights for the truck?

Roof rack build

Thanks Bergretter the light where found from Ebay couple of years ago.


Just finished my roof rack and it´s accessories.

Made from A4 stainless steel. My twin brother helped me weld it together.

Mounting accessories are:
- 20w CREE Led light 2 and 2 on the sides and 2 backwards (also connected to the reverce)
- 2 pcs marine VFH antennas. Long range
- Searchlight
- Aluminium box painted green
- And more to come in the near future

Forgot to take pictures while welding together. The gutter plates are laser cut from a CAD drawing. Fitting before mounting accessories.

Workin lights and antenna foot. Wire´s run inside the tubes.

Box and search light

Used the opportunity to put lights in the upper tail gate. small led lights.

Fitted a shovel, hijack and ironman on the rear box.
