I was driving Roostah (96 LX450) out to Big Bend National Park when after fueling up in Junction the rig began making a knocking sound that replicated an HD engine. I am taking the rig in to a trusted LC mechanic to evaluate damage in April.

I am asking you that have been through a rebuild what you didn't do and later wishing you had while the engine was out. I have a pretty good list and just asking to cover all the bases.

I replaced everything. Injectors, clips, O2 sensors, VSVs, vacuum lines, water pump, radiator, ac compressor, power steering pump, tvv, all coolant hoses. Basically just take your time. Replace anything that is hard to reach that you don't want to do later.

Wish I had sent my injectors out for service while the engine was out. Just flat forgot.

Spring for a new OEM short block if you can possibly afford it.

Degrease, paint and wax engine compartment.

Call DeltaVS and price out a Cummins 2.8 swap before you get started!

I ordered one on toyotapartsdeal.com it was oem.
