Whats the highest mileage a land cruiser has ever gone up to? Anybody heard of getting up to 500,000 miles? What can you expect from a FZJ80?

Have a 97' LX with 208k. I've seen an 80 with 340k. I used to have a 70' FJ40 with 540k. All original motor and drivetrain.

Search, this question has been asked probably 10 times in the last 6 months.

There are a handful of people on the board that have 300k + and still drive them regularly.
I'm not sure where i saw it, but i thought i read somewhere that the 1FZ-FE has a life expectancy of 300k miles and is design to handle 2 or 3 rebuilds before the block is done for.

There's one in oz that was used to escort the roadtrains back & forth across oz, it did a million miles with no major probs just routine servicing, the company that own it have now put it in a museum

1991 FJ80, 3FE, 241,902 miles (389,303.5 km) on the clock. All original.

I've put 15,000 on it myself since last year when I got it.

:grinpimp:

Will be turning 300,000 in a month or two

There is an LX for sale near me that I looked at the other day. I'm pretty sure the ODO showed 346000, but I was only looking through the window. Guy is asking $6900:confused:.

309,000 here

My dad had it for 18 years and no problems.
I just bought it from him because he doesn't drive it anymore. Looking to spend another 255xxx with it.

I have a 93 with 309000....I love these things. It would be quite amazing I think to see one hit 500. I remember as a kid in Lacey Washington the Guinness record mileage holder at the time was a Mercedes Benz on the original motor, diesel, with over 1 million miles....phenomenal.

I just saw a '97 Collectors Edition for sale online that has over 400k!

Guy near me has '97-head never off (he said) beautiful condition-stock-haven't seen for a couple months-still drives it back and forth to Mexico from Illinois. about 375k.

I have almost 240K, runs great doesn't burn any oil unless "pushed" above 80 mph. Oil is still clean between changes. Regular maint and a HG at ~ 135K. Tied with my 300D for no problem vehicle. My 300TD ate brakes and batteries, wifes e320CDI might give the 80 a run but I have to have some stuff done at the STEALER due to diagnostic needs.

My neighbor just had their house painted, the painter had 358K and said no issues other than MPG was starting to suffer.

My mantra will run forever, go, suck gas, go anywhere (locked) and enjoy the drive as they aren't "fast". Only thing lacking is towing capacity. I am waffling on selling and just started looking into LS swap and brake upgrade vs getting a Tundra. Mine isn't a wheeler and a lot of miles are hwy. But I have the ok on a larger fishing boat. With one headed to college I need to make changes before she is commited (out of state or private, ouch).

Bottom line, taken care of these will go a loooong way.
