My pleasure. 2001 is a good year IMHO, Good luck!

If you're not going to do the work yourself, you may want to compare Edwin's ( LCS Austin's Land Cruiser Specialist! ) diagnosis and prices to what you've received from the dealer.

Have you used these folks before? I used to live in Austin but currently am in Tyler, TX and would be willing to make the drive if they are recommended since I have many friends that live down there still.... it would be worth the drive to have quality work done at good prices.

I've only had minor dealings with them, always very positive. I'm ~2-2.5 hours away and have a local guy that I've been quite pleased with, but would have no hesitation with LCS. (My brother and his family are local to LCS and swear by them.)

Revival. I am in the process of acquiring parts to replace my steering rack. Would it be recommended to do the pump while I am at? I don't see any issues with the pump but the shop I am using asked the question if I wanted to do it since they were working in that area anyway so now I am thinking maybe?

There is no overlap for the rack and pump replacement. I would leave the pump as is. But if you swap it, I'll take the old one !

Thanks. That is what I was thinking. Put just wanted to make sure.

Where's the best place to get an oem rack these days? I may be getting this job done soonish as well.

I am getting a refurbished OEM rack from CVJ axles. The seem to be pretty straight forward without totally breaking the bank. Some may argue that New OEM is the only way to go but for me personally I do not see the value.

Thanks, prior to my post, I called CVJ ($381) and Camelback ($890) for pricing. Just looking for other options for OEM, since I've seen people say you can find them for closer to $500.
