Help - sticky throttle cable (1 Viewer)

Been trying to remedy a sticky throttle on my carb’d 1FZ. Basically throttle sticks and doesn’t fully release; sort of flooring it and releasing works, as does pulling it back with my foot. I have so far replaced the carburetor (not because of this hehe), the throttle cable and the accelerator pedal. I’ve verified no kinks and even tried throwing some graphite spray into the cable. What can I do at this point? Any help welcome. Should I look to replace the spring on the carburetor that the throttle cable hooks up to? Really out of ideas here. :(
 
You can relube the cable. I've been think about this on mine too.
It will require something light, that doesn't oxidize and get sticky, and able to withstand low temps and remain functioning.
I was thinking of using a synthetic gun oil called G96 as I personally have proved it remains liquid down to -65*F, (cold chamber at work) and it meets the other two criteria as well.

Thanks. I mean, it was a brand new cable … but I guess it’s possible that it sat on the shelf for so long it dried up, and using graphite didn’t help …. hrm. I wonder if a few drops of ATF oil which seems to penetrate EVERYTHING would do the trick?

Is the throttle cable routed correctly? I know that sounds rudimentary, but I had "help" one day putting my air cleaner and rubber tube back on and they installed the throttle cable under the rubber tube, caused a similar issue to what you're describing.

Is it possible the new throttle body's return spring is anchored incorrectly and providing less force than the old one? Can you still confirm the old one against the new one, or is the old throttle body gone?

Is the kick down cable routed correctly and not binding? They share the same return spring, same with the Cruise Control cable?

I did keep the old carburetor around (who knows, they'll all probably go out of production, and I'll need it), so I will check the spring on it, see if it's any different. I am reasonably sure it's routed correctly (there seems to be only one way to do it anyway at the throttle body, and otherwise it just makes this giant gentle loop around the entire engine). I had one thought - I wonder if I need to fiddle with the tension on the accelerator part of the cable - while I don't have a cruise control cable (manual/almost no electronics car), there _is_ a hand throttle cable; I don't know if there's some balance of tension that should exist between the two, but I guess I will try to fiddle with it. It's just driving me absolutely nuts.
