Hey everyone, so I'm looking for anyones recommendations based on experience with a 3FE.
Here's the situation: 92 FJ80, 3FE, engine seized, I got a replacement and it's been rebuilt by a shop, installed by another shop.

Pressure test when cold is good, but once it heats up, it starts dumping white smoke and losing power. The tech is assuming there's a crack in the head.

Does that sound right? Anything else we should be looking at?

He has the good head off my old 3FE, so we can put that on, but we're trying to make sure that there's nothing that would have been done improperly by the other shop first. If there is, we can send it back to them to fix.

Any help at all would be GREATLY appreciated.. I'm 540 days into this process and I'm about over it.
Thank you in advance.

The tech is assuming there's a crack in the head.
If the engine has an unknown history, then it could be a crack or a faulty head gasket or a corroded oil cooler.
The "tech" shouldn't be assuming anything.
Has he tested the coolant for exhaust gasses?
Has he tested the engine oil for coolant?
Has he done a compression test?

This kit can let let you know for sure if it's coolant, leaking into your combustion chamber.

It can also be a crack in the block, or headgasket issue.

If you pull the spark plugs, you should find some super clean ones from the steam bath.
