This rig (*edit* for sale in Sacramento) appears to have been on the market since at least March. Selling dealer claims one owner, while Carfax shows two (though corporate owner could have purchased once vehicle was retired from corporate service). Timing belt/water pump replaced in last 3k miles. AutoCheck reports it failed smog in February before passing shortly thereafter. Priced at $18,300.

What am I missing here? Appears to be a good deal at this price. Has anyone put eyes on this truck, or can anyone recommend a shop for PPI? I’d be purchasing from SF Bay Area, so unfortunately can’t go check it out myself unless I’m purchasing same-day.

Timing belt replacement sticker in image 36 and Carfax notes "Timing belt idler pulley/bearing replaced" at same mileage.

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked out that one in person and it is, indeed, due for a timing belt replacement. It's also in semi-rough condition, with oddly soiled carpets and interior pieces, half a missing third-row seat, random TPMS issues, and some odd coolant sludge/deposit on the front side of the engine. I just didn't have a good feeling when I checked it out.

I get the appeal of a one-owner truck however I've noticed often times they perform little maintenance because it's not really needed. These trucks can go 150-200k with oil changes however this is not recommended.

Based on the carfax , it appears the timing belt was done for the first time at 180k. Not a big deal, however it is an indication that the owner was not taking care of other scheduled maintenance.

Not sure if that's important to you or not.
