Hey everyone

Looking for some help deciphering a trim tag. I looked on the inter web and was able to decipher some but need help with the rest. Also how do you go about checking to see if the truck is matching numbers ie engine/trans/ Fram etc.?

Trim tag
RN61L-MBZA
8A1FZ81G292R 51F

RN61= 22RE Turbo
8A1 is medium blue

Any ideas on the rest?

Thanks for any guidance

I could be wrong, but I don't think Toyota did the "numbers matching" thing like domestics did.

ok I wasn't sure. on my 40 I know the frame and I thought the engine matched the vin?

Any thoughts on the MBZA?

I appreciate all the responses so far!

it appears M = manual trans
Z = turbo
A = usa
i believe B signifies trim level. in this case it appears to me as Base.

@gnob is right on the money. Also, if you look at the link below, you can see the differences in the coding between regions. Or just read my summary.
1st letter tranny: M = 5 sp MTM, P = 4 sp ATM
2nd letter trim level: S (SR5), D (DLX), R (STD), G (SRT), or B (SDT)
3rd letter induction type i.e. turbo, NA, carb: Z = 22RET, E = 22REC (just 22RE), neither or these means 22R
4th letter sales destination: A = USA, W = Europe K = Canada

Thanks guys! Are the turbo trucks rare? I’ve never seen one.

Any watch outs with them or what I should be looking for when I go to look at it?

Negative.
Frame and vin number match, that's it.
