haha. love the bright side.
That thing saved my first 80. A Miata rearended it at about 40mph, while my wife was stopped at a light. Totaled the Miata, scratched the paint on the trailer hitch.

just posted. I sorted it by mileage and there is a clear correlation there
Anyway you can share that spreadsheet? I'm about to be going through the same thing. Mine's a 2006 that I lucked out when I purchased it.

I worry about my mint condition 2002 LX470 with 68K miles.
I don't think KBB valuation is justice and too have been capturing BAT pricing just in case.

insurace companies dont care about BAT auction prices and wont even look at that data if you give it to them. Same with private party,, they only go off of dealership listings and just about all of these go to a wholesafe aution since they are "old" now, then are resold by hole in the wall places. The bid on my 2000 almost doubled with a little bit of arguing. When I first talked with the insurance company, I told them it was worth 18k private party. After some arguing, they gave us 18k plus tax (or somthing like that, it was a few years ago). My damage was much worst than the OP's, wife has been driving it for years now - still drives better than most new cars.

I had a claim on my cummins last winter after sliding into a ditch on my property. That was a huge pain. Insurance estimate was $2500 for a front bumper, big dent in the bed, side step, and inner outer front shafts and u joints. After 2.5 months of nothing from my insurance, they told me to write my own quote - not sure how that is not a conflict of interest, but whatever. I used dealer parts and a friends estimate for body work, my labor rate for mechanical. My insurance came back with $1200 over what I came up with... Insurance companies are bizarre....

Got rear ended by a young girl texting in a Highlander couple years ago. I was going about 10mph and she was doing about 50mph. Her car was totaled and my bumper was scratched. Cop walked up and asked me where the vehicle went that she hit? When I told him it was me, he said he was going to buy a Land Cruiser lol.

These frames are tough - I would have another shop look at it.

I guess this is the best place to ask. If you guys want me to make my own thread, just let me know.

Monday I took an ill-advised left turn. The right rear quarter panel is destroyed. Destroyed my tail light and bumper. Did a little bit of damage to the tailgate and pushed in my internal components on the passenger side. Unfortunately, the passenger side curtain airbag went off too.

The truck took the hit like a champ. Drove it home with an escort and was able to drive it around a dirt road behind my house without any problems.

Insurance currently has this marked as totaled but hasn't offered me a settlement yet. The adjuster was a former 80 and 100 series owner, so he understands the pain. Once the airbag hits, it just cost too much to fix he says.

Other than trying to get as much for the total value as possible, what kind of options do I have? Is it worth trying to replace this airbag? I plan to hold the line on the added value of having a VVTI engine, 2006's in my area with my mileage (around 215,000) are listed around $17,000. But this was a Texas car with no rust or major mechanical issues and I know it could last forever. Just changed the freaking timing belt, pump, and idlers too. Is it best just to let this cruiser live out its best life as a dune jumper and move on to a 200 series?

Ouch, still driveable even if Air Bag deployed.

This must be the month for DESTRUCTION OF LAND CRUISERS.
Last week my son came home and we noted someone side swiped the passenger side of his 2004 LC.
He didn't know anything until I went out to run diagnostics on his Engine.
Suspect swiped in Parking Lot somewhere. Suspecting since the damage is kinda high that it was caused by a ladder on a truck.
Have not got a repair estimate and it might be expensive - damaged both passenger doors, both door handles, right rear fender, and right rear tail light.

And my wife refuses to have cams in her LS because she thinks I wanna spy on her.
Seems like 3 LC is the number to have. One beater you let anyone drive, one wife shared, and one- I'm gonna be that guy that takes 2 parking spots. 2003, 2005, 2007.

@Cmock13
17 buyback included, rear AC delete, rear airbag delete. Metabo disk.
LC and not LX makes me think another 3k just because. There just aren't very many 06-07. Watch classic, cars and bids, and bat.
I bet in 2008 there was a new 2007 LC somewhere list at 67k buy at 48k. I was too young to see it.

So you would push for $17,000 + the salvaged vehicle? Can you get a rebuilt title without the side airbags? I haven't had any luck finding the part number for them.
