Headliner off mods?

The headliner is currently out of my 200 series. I've heard that some roof racks require (or are aided by) a mod done that requires dropping the headliner. Since I may add a roof rack at some point, should I perform this mod while I'm in there? Anything else you all would recommend while this thing is out? Thanks!

Unless you're driving an LX, nothing to do while you're in there regarding a roof rack; LCs are all done up top. Unless you do it wrong and push a retainer clip loose and lose it in the headliner.

You might consider adding some sound deadening while it's down. You don't have to cover every corner and crevice to achieve good dampening results. Large swaths of foiled butyl on the big exposed portions of single-layer sheet metal can do a lot. Especially if you plan to run a lot of stuff on top that would increase wind noise. Stock and unloaded, it's fine and doesn't need any help.

Cascade Audio is cheaper than Monstaliner by about a 1/3rd and shipping up from OR isn't a deal killer.

Good suggestions, I had planned on running wires for a rear view 360 setup, might run an extra for if I ever want an electronic rear view. Didn't even think of antenna, but good call, I'll run extra coax for that. Will eventually have some LED's on the roof, but I plan to run those up the little channel on either side of the windshield, since it'll be closer to my batteries (dual battery, start and AGM under the hood)....less cable, lower gauge, less resistance, less thickness was the thinking there. Might run a few moderate AWG power wires back there just in case.

Okay good to know. I might see if there's a way to bolster the retainer clips just in case. Pulling that thing down was a bitch, I'd hate to have to do it again.

Definitely going to add foiled butyl rubber. I added a ton in the doors and all over the interior, quarter panels, under the carpet, etc. There's a big huge spot on the roof right behind the DVD player with no sound deadening on it (although there's some padding on the headliner itself). Either way, I'll definitely hit that! Thanks!
