Headliner coming down - How to fix this?

I've been wondering about that! Everything go smoothly? My issue is how much Line X wants to do a small job like that. Anything besides bed liner black is big $$$. I was considering doing the whole thing since my gel coat is on its way out...
You can clean and smooth the surface (remove all glue and foam) and then apply the linex with a roller if you can't spray it. As for color you can get different color pigment bottles and make the color you want. It's what I'm gonna do after I repair the gutter. No more headliner over here!

The 3M spray glue is complete garbage! It will never dry and always be sticky! I know, I do automotive upholstery!

What would you recomend then? (Super 77 has always worked well for me)

I had the same thing happen on my '70 40. I removed my headliner, sanded off the remnants of the foam and then brush (edges) / roller (small roller on the main part) painted the roof with oil based Rustoleum in Almond color. This I did without even removing the cap! Just lay down blankets to protect from roller splatter. If you get a drip, it cleans up nice with mineral spirits if you catch it before it dries completely. It looked great and brightened things up quite a bit considering the dinginess of the old headliner. The good thing about doing this is that it is a perfect quick and easy fix that will get you by until you are able to separate the cap from the sides and do a real headliner. Heck, mine looked so good that I don't think I'd ever consider installing another headliner over top of the paint. It's a whole lot of trouble doing headliners and new ones never seem to hold up as well as the originals. Total cost was $15.

It always depends on what your end goal is !!!
If you have a nice good stock rig you are trying to keep fresh to keep it's value then of course you HAVE to bite the bullet and do it right at once. Pay a shop to do the headliner.

If you have a rig not so stock or not so nice and the value is deteriorated already then forget the headliner altogether and paint the bottom. And I'm pretty sure we all agree here that your pocket is the only limit! Go as wild or conservative as you want/can. Keep in mind thicker materials will hide imperfections better than lighter stuff. Like linex vs spray paint for example, multiple coats is the ticket.

As far as doing small repairs to keep the dry foam/liner from coming down, well, I'll just say we heard that question 100s of times! "Can you just put some glue on the spot falling and stick it back up there?!?!" NO, we will not do it because in a few days or weeks you will be back asking for your $ back and pissed it didn't work even after I told you it wouldn't!

I rather have you going away mad I didn't do it than coming back mad I did crap work!

Pay a shop... :D That'll never happen. My luck is that I'd pay someone and they'd do a crap job, and given I line 3D curves with leather and neoprene without any seams as a part of my job, a headliner is plug and play.

By "pay a shop" I meant have someone who does it on a regular basis take care of it "IF" you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself! Most people don't! My experience is that people will put their hands more on things that can be hidden than those that show!
