Fwiw between myself and a few buddies here's some 2UZs, HG has never killed one or even been a problem. Not the 275k/500k you're looking for but I bet these have more heating and cooling cycles being shorter DD's. Some lifted w/tires, some grocery getters, some backup beaters.

You can't stop age; rubber, rust, sealants, paint, nothing lasts forever.

Here is a data point. My 2003 100 series is at 280k. I was laying under the truck preparing for a steering rack bushing replacement and inner tie rod ends and noticed a coolant leak from the head gasket!! I think it is cylinder 5 (third from the front on driver's side). A little sad, but temps run at 191 +/- 5 deg F...never have overheated and regular Toyota premix pink replacements (60 mile interval max). No evidence of burning coolant and coolant lose is very minimal...not sure what to do!!! Will run some tests and report back!
