oh, sliding back windows...i want a set.
i have not come across any leather JDM 81s yet and i have yet to see a HDJ81 with 3rd row seating, but i did see a gasser in Japan with the 3rd row seating which i thought was strange...
cheers

Sliding windows are a security threat when you park. Doesn't take much more than a pry with a screwdriver or a knife to open them.

The only common difference that I have found is that the HDJ81 seems to have fixed side windows at the back instead of the sliding ones on the HDJ80.

AFAIK, you could have gotten an HDJ81 with the "Active Vacation" package option and got the camping kit in the back with a bed/matresses, sink, stove(?), etc... and the sliding windows. But I'm not sure if the said option was available on both wagon (FJ/FZJ) and (HZ/HDJ). ;)

I have only seen a few of them, but they seem to have only the lap belts on both (or all) seatbelt locations back there. Very rare to see one from the factory like that anyway.

But almost all the gas/wagon models (FZ/FZJ) came with 3rows of seating with rear ac AND the sliding 3rd-row windows. ;)

I thought that HDJ-81 from Jap .. comes ( few ) with leather seats ..

I have seen them, but not many of them.

I think as you get later/newer-model 81's going to Canada you'll see some, but not many.

How much clearance do you have to the bottom of your running board?

19.5" below the running board with full load of fuel and no cargo or passengers

second re-fuel looks like 14.5 litres/100Km (including correction for 35" MTs assuming that odometer is calibrated for 31" ATs) for a mix of city, highway and trail driving

Thanks for the info.
