Aug Meeting and Annual Picnic, so here are the basic details:

-Sat Aug 24th

-Locust Group Site at the Oak Flats Picnic Area
This is located off HWY 337, about 10 miles south of Tijeras. Large sign that says "Oak Flats picnic area" Google map

-We have the site for the entire day, from 8 AM to 10 PM. This site has a large shelter that can house a lot of people.

-I'll pick up the key from the Ranger station on Friday.

- Potluck affair, the club will pick up the burgers/dogs/buns/condiments/water/pop/plates/utensils/etc

-There are some playing fields adjacent to the site for stuff like baseball, frisbee, bocce ball etc. so plan to bring your favorite games.

- Throw out suggestions for the time to have the party.

- No fire restrictions so we can have a Barbeque with all the trimmings.

- Last year's thread with pics: https://forum.ih8mud.com/nm-high-desert-cruisers/602360-july-meeting-annual-picnic-2.html

Here's the list of attendees so far:
- Williams - x4
- Evan x 2
- Franklins x 3
- Alis x 2
- Pappy x 2 (yes, I'm optimistic)
- Maynards x 2
- Jake x 4
- BigDogKona x 7
- Steve x 2

Ahlen X 4. I think the format from last year was come after 12. Food cooking started ~ 1.

Marc,

Since you organized the picnic last year, let me know if I've missed anything.

I think you've covered the basics. The grills are huge and require serious amounts of coals, but you can cook for an army on them. No running water so bring some jugs or sanitizing wipes.

The biggest caution is to make sure you plan ahead accordingly to get the key from the FS office. Being that you live very close to it, it shouldn't be too hard but that office doesn't have very convenient hours for working stiffs.

Good points, thanks. What did you do for condiments last year?

I don't recall but I probably just bought a squeeze bottle of ketchup and mustard. I don't bother with things like mayo, relish, pickles for stuff like this because few people actually use them and it complicates matters. Now if someone coming would offer to bring lettuce, onions, tomatoes and cheese, that would be extremely helpful.

Can't make it, sorry. We'll be at the Rising Sun Swap Meet and then the run on Sunday.

what time we starting?

whoops, missed that. how about noon? we have a commitment at 4 and will have to leave around 3ish.

Evan x 2

Noon or early afternoon is fine for us.

Looking forward to it!

Noon sounds great with a 1pm barbque fire off.

Beers OK as long as the cruiser doesn't have to drive us home?

I hope Pappy finds a date for Saturday.....
