So here are the basic details:

-Sunday, July 15th

-Locust Group Site at the Oak Flats Picnic Area
This is located off HWY 337, about 10 miles south of Tijeras.
Map from Tijeras

-We have the site for the entire day, from 8 AM to 10 PM.

-I will need a volunteer that can go by the Sandia Ranger Distric office a few days prior between the hours of 8 and 4, M-F, to pick up the key to the site. There is a $10 deposit for that key.

- I was told that Stage II restrictions will allow a propane grill for cooking food on, if we want to do that.

-There are some playing fields adjacent to the site for stuff like baseball, frisbee, bocce ball etc. so plan to bring your favorite game

- Throw out suggestions for the time to have the party. There had been suggestion of combining a run earlier in the day with the picnic a little later.

Dam, I was hoping to get to a meeting and join up.
I will be coming back from Coal Mine Cruiser Classic that day in PA.

next one I hope.

Marc,

I can pickup the keys if needed. If anyone has a smaller size propane barbque unit that can be hauled around in the back of a pickup, that'd be great! Or, we use bunch of small hibachi/weber table top grills!

man, another close meeting and we will be out of town... :frown:

enjoy all!

This is starting to look like a small turnout for such a big cost. How about we get a show of hands of who thinks they will come. There's no point in wasting $75 for the site and planning for a picnic if 10 people show up.

Yep. Should be good.

I'm in.

We're in.

I will be there

for us it depends on our vacation. specifically, when we get back.

Marc - Sorry, it looks like we have a calendar conflict.

Pinzgauer's are cool. Please come so we can thoroughly inspect and drool on it.

Jon, Can you make this a sticky until the picnic is done?

This is good. We're getting a little more interest. I'll do a headcount in a few days to see if it makes sense to keep this plan for the meeting. If you're a maybe, post up so I can inlude you in the count. I'd rather have maybes not show than have too low a count and cancel it.

Do we have any volunteers yet for who could bring a propane grill? Mine was turned into a mouse condo over the winter and I haven't sanitized it yet. Plus the burner needs replacing.

hey guys i would love to come if you all will take a pinzgauer?

Hey man,

thanks for posting up. Introduce yourself on a new thread so that you can get abused properly :flipoff2:

Just so everyone knows, I ran into this young man while I was getting ready for a bike ride at Cedar Crest and suggested that he look us up. There's only one other Pinz in this town!

His Pinz is too cool for words and it'd be a nice addition to our wheeling runs. Besides, someone's gotta keep those FJ40's company in the right lane, doing 58 mph :hillbilly:
