HD turbos

I came across this posting on that big auction site for CT26 turbo's that are listed as being for the 1-HDT and are being sold for $200/e (they supposedly have 1000 of them). Can somebody give me reality check here? Is this not a screaming deal (assuming you actually get them from china).

Worst case is it needs work sooner than expected, for that price you're buying the housings and the rest is free anyway.

I would be a bit concerned about the impeller flying apart and sending hot chunks of metal into the motor... Near as I know diesels will run on a lot of things.... but not iron!!!

Good thing compressor blades are alumin(i)um then.

Every turbo that is listed there on Ebay seems to be an obselete model. Could even be an OEM supplier who is allowed to onsell parts past a certain date.

I'd put money on many genuine parts being made in China from almost all brands.
I've asked some questions on another auction of his, haven't heard yet but I'll be keen to buy if the answers come back okay.

Maybe the pic isn't what you are getting... stock 1HD-T turbo hot side casting is not split pulse like the one in the pic.
