Going to get it looked at today. It's going to be a bummer if they total a Sage 40th with lockers, no roof rack and only 108k miles.

Holy crap, did the tree just bounce a few times on your roof before settling on the windshield?????

Well, the doors look like they will open and there is no broken glass. War wound. Make up a story like you were attacked by a land shark and you got away with your life by punching it in the nose :flipoff2:

And get a snorkel, it'll cover a lot of it :meh:

They can give you a check for it, call it a salvaged title, and then you can "buy" it for like $500. I would say that's a big win

It's definitely drivable I just don't know how this all works. The roof and drip rail are bent pretty good and the sunroof surround is jacked. This was my long term 80 so it's pretty disappointing.

No glass was broken it looks so the a pillar and roof frame should be intact. Very fixable and doesn't look to be a tota to me.. Might want to cut down any other trees that look like they may fall over. :)

hey at least your antenna didn't get bent.

The reality is its roof damage over A-pillar and B-pillar. It will be totaled. NUKE is right, its your chance to buy it back for pennies on the dollar and use the money to have fun with. Many of us have been thru similar and its FAR easier not to get emotional at this point. There is no setting back this clock.

I dunno, I have a feeling insurance will total it. KBB will probably be $5000 on the truck and the damage will exceed 80% of the value.

The question is how much they'll value it. If they go by KBB I'm screwed since I paid more than twice that for the truck ~2 years ago.

we had a hurricane blow through at the start of July

It bent the frame of the windshield, but didn't get written off. I got an estimate to fix everything that was more than the "value" of the truck, but insurance worked with me and cut me a check that was most of the repair costs, but kept it on the road.

I pocketed 80% of the cash, took out the dash, got my mechanic to beat the windshield frame back in place and installed a new windshield.

Things would have been different if there had been any suspected structural damage...

In excellent condition, pre-incident, with your mileage in your neck of the woods the KBB value is $8933. You start there and work your way up!

:(

Definitely pleased with how the 80 took a branch this big from about a 60 foot drop.

Insurance will total it. A roof skin alone sells for $2,698.74 before you lift a finger to install it.

Do NOT tell the insurance that it was a DEAD tree or limb! They will NOT cover it! I had this happen on a classic car and insurance rejected it citing "negligence" that the tree should have been trimmed to prevent it. If it was a live limb, it would have been covered.

Make sure it was a "LIVE" limb and the wind must have blown it down!

I just got back from the shop and the body man thinks he can repair it if he can get to the back side of that sheet metal. We was concerned with the sunroof since he won't know what damage is there until he takes it all apart. This is the shop the insurance company recommended and they have good reviews on Google. I haven't got the write up yet but he was thinking 20-30 hours of work. He also didn't think it'd be totaled even if they got in there and ended up having to do a roof skin.
