Have you actually crank started your FJ?

I was talking with a buddy about crank starting my old 55 and he said he thought it was a myth. I actually had a hard time convincing him that I HAD done it on several occasions (until I bent my crank handle :-). Surely other cruiser heads have done it too?

I'm not crazy..... ?

Or like a stock steering wheel when your 33's hit a rock and your thumbs happen to be inside the wheel, or your elbow anywhere near the door!

My son's XC coach is also a reporter for NPR, and when he saw my 60 - he said "holy cow, I've crank-started landcruisers all over africa and the middle-east." He said they start pretty easily...

I've hand-crank-started my Pig quite a few times, usually on a bet to win some beer.
On this last Nor-Cal Pigrun I started Elvins' Pig with a crank, I heard it was captured on video.
It only works on straight 6 Pigs though.

It only kicks when you try to go all the way around. Best way is to turn it so you are at the top of the arc. Push pull the 180 degrees or so and if it didn't light, turn it slowly to the top again and give her hell :D

Too bad you can't hand crank a 60. I'd like to be able to, but access is blocked by the radiator.
