I hate to use non OEM parts, but the f-ing accountants at Toyota have discontinued door hinges. So has anyone tried one of the repros from Thailand?

do you have a link to what you’re referring to?

There are multiple vendors on eBay for example offering hinges from TH.

Guys, I'm not asking for feedback from a specific vendor, I am asking if anyone has tried any of the options from Thailand. I would guess they all come from the same source.

If you have, I'd appreciate your feedback on them. If you haven't then you are not in a position to answer the question are you?

So if you want to have a look at the options, type 'Land Cruiser 60 door hinge' into your preferred eBay website and have a look.

I was looking at Thailand based vendors, but they are probably all the same thing.

How are you judging the condition of used hinges?

I would look at the condition of the bolt holes and extent of surface rust there. Also the "bar" that holds the two hinge pieces together and the end fasteners. Would want to see very little gap in the ends of the bar across the surface the ends rub against as an indication of the degree of "play." Its a subjective assessment. Price in relation to the above visual indicators is also important. At the end of the day, would you trust used OEM vs new Thai steel? These are simple devices. Very little should go wrong with them outside of rusting away.

There's no way you can judge a hinge for wear just by looking at a photo. The wear is in the unseen bearing surface between the pin and the brass bushing at each end, not between the ends of the pin (there are no fasteners, the pin has a flat head at one end and is peened flat on the other) and the hinge bracket itself, which is what I think you're trying to describe. My driver's side door hinge is pretty much perfect visually but severely worn.

So what would I prefer? Well if I could pick up a used OEM hinge and check it, I'd go for that any day. But that's not an option for me here.

Yes, I bought a set of front door hinges L and R, as backup, so they're not installed. Quality is good. Are they OEM? I don't think so, but they will do. If they were OEM they would have Aisin stamped on them. Look around, I realized after purchase there may be more than one manufacturer as some are painted black and some are grey. Could be CCP production vs Thailand? I bought the grey ones; they were from Thailand.

I don't have them handy at the moment or I'd post pix.

Maybe you’re not getting the help you need because you’re coming across as hostile. People are asking questions to better understand your situation, but you’re arguing with them instead. Take a breath and dial it back.

Thank you Spike! That's very helpful. Good point on the grey and black versions - I also saw the grey ones listed as hinges for the RN30/40 Hilux. I doubt they are Chinese made as I haven't seen results on typical Chinese platforms and there is a big Toyota following over in Thailand. I've got some rubber components from Thailand (windscreen and rear hatch weatherstrip via CityRacer, and a front scuttle panel weatherstrip direct from Thailand) and the quality looks very good.

If the new hinges feel tight I would think they are good as the materials that wear are very standard.

Actually, sometimes you can judge from a picture. Just look at this set of hinges from a seller in the UK. In 'good condition'. Sadly, this is typical of the used part market in the UK.
