Has anyone dismantled an FJ62 door mirror?

My situation is this:

I have a 1989 BJ60, right hand drive. The mirrors which came with the car were not the originals. They are genuine chrome units with electric adjustment which are not correct for my model. I want to put new mirrors on but the only 60 Series full-size door mirrors still available are for left-handed models. I'm wondering if I can dismantle my old RHD mirrors and a set of new left-handed mirrors and make a good pair of manual, RHD mirrors.

The bases come off easily, but it looks like the mirror itself is held onto the internal frame by a plastic ball joint. I've tried prying it as much as I dare but I'm worried about breaking it.

Has anyone successfully dismantled their mirrors?

Thanks

EO

P.S. No, I do not want to put 70 Series mirrors on.

the old plastic mounts inside of the old one will likely break, as they can/will be brittle.
the new one should be able to come apart

I've got one in pieces, I'll try and get pics later today, of the internal guts
for some reason, I think the mirror slides up to disconnect from the mechanism

Thanks! Pictures of the internals of manual mirrors would be very helpful :)

underneath the mirror housing is an access hole, unscrew the phillips head screw, then the mirror and bracketry with ball will slide up and out of the housing
there is no way I can see to remove the ball from the bracketry, as there is a screw holding the ball to the bracketry hidden under the mirror

Thank you very much! Clearly the mirror pad and the mounting mechanism are completely different on a motorised vs. manual mirror so my plan to swap my existing pads into new manual mirrors will not work.

Do you reckon it's possible to take the mirror itself out of the plastic backing pad? I guess the process was destructive when you gained access to that screw?

I found the following by @tonka az showing the insides of a motorised mirror:

the mounting assembly can be removed from the chrome piece by 3 or 4 screws
yes the mirror needs to be removed from the bracketry to gain access to the screw behind it

Can you get the mirror piece out of its backing pad without breaking it?

I tried to do this 10 years ago and reached the same conclusion. The new manual chrome mirrors work great, don't shake, and essentially never need adjustment. There was some looseness in my electric mirror linakges, and I also feared that they might vibrate in the new housing. So, it was easiest to leave it alone and run the new manuals.

If only it were so easy. But as per my original post, the only new door mirrors still available for the 60 are for left handed vehicles, no good to me.

I ended up breaking the parts one,
not sure what adhesive is used to attach the mirror to the ball bracket assembly, I think it is only attached in a few places around the edge of the mirror
