9000lb is back on sale for $299 for anyone who wants one 'now'.

Haven't found the flyer. As you know, if you show up to HF without the ad they won't honor the 299 deal. Anybody got a copy of the ad?
My bad, I'm looking for the June 8th -June 10th ad for the 12K lb winch for 299.

I found one (flyer that is). The sale flyer is called "Huge Parking Lot Sale!" 3 days only June 8,9 & 10th. The flyer is available now at the store and states 299.99 for the lot no. 68142 which is the Badland's 12K winch with remote control and automatic brake. "Percentage off coupons will not be honored with the purchase of products shown on this fliyer." No coupon needed for the 299.99 price. Quanities limited and no rainchecks.

Bought the 12K winch today, at the sidewalk sale for $299.99, no coupon needed. Here's what I found:

> approx 7:30am, there were 6 winches in the Atlanta Perimeter store, they had received them just for the sale.
> there is a 30-day return policy, then 20% restocking fee after that. Apparently this is existing fine print not typically enforced, but the store manager told me that corporate is insisting that it be enforced from here on out.
> the standard 90-day warranty is factory only, not in-store. So if anything goes wrong, the owner pays to pack and ship to factory, then will pay freight to get it back.
> if you buy the extended warranty, the above two rules are waived.
> there is a special where you get 6 months on top of the 1 year, if you buy the 1 year warranty. The pre-printed brochure does not say that, and neither will the receipt. But the manager said the HF system will show it, and she wrote it on my receipt also. She said receipts are not needed if you bring in an item on the extended warranty, they will look you up by phone number and name. For the winch, the 1.5 year warranty was $29.99.

Now comes the fun part - installing and wiring!

I ordered my 9000# online. Showed up in about the same condition as the boxes on the store shelves.

But you're right, they're not packed all THAT well.

Will be installing mine in an Ironman also. We'll see how it goes.

Ironman bumper mount

Got mine today for the 92. Started the install on the ironman and noticed one thing that needs modification. The engage/disengage lever will not turn all the way back without hitting the valance. I removed the lever with the allen head set screw. Removed the o-ring. Then I notched the back of the lever at the bend, bent the lever more like 90 degrees, then welded up. Lever rotates all the way back without hitting the valance.
Solenoid box will also need to be mounted somewhere besides on top of the winch. Mine is probably going on top of the ironman "deck" in between the offroad light mounts.

Be sure to post pix of your installs for everyone to see, especially the undecided! It helps to see how different install challenges were handled and performance feedback helps to decide what size to pick and how these winches are holding up.

The easier solution to this problem is to "clock" or rotate the gear box so that the lever no longer has interferance. Remove the gear box side of the winch with the right mounting plate. Remove the box from the plate by removing the 10 screws. Rotate the gear box to an appropriate orientiation so the lever won't hit anything. Reinstall the 10 screws. Reinstall the gear/mounting plate assembly. Takes about 20 minutes.

If you look my build thread, you can see how I clocked my HF winch. It's not hard.

Thanks for the great info!!!

I should clarify that. In my build thread I talk about my winch, but you have to follow the link in that comment to the other thread that actually explains the clock process.

Clocking the winch crossed my mind but I did the cut, bend and weld mod in about 10 minutes. I also noticed after mounting the Ironman bumper the lever will not turn completely to the front unless the bumper is raised to the highest point when mounting.

Picked up a 12k HF winch last weekend. The sale price was $299, but they accepted a 20% off coupon. The final price was about $240. Now all I need do is fab up a new bumper, figure out how to mount it, wiring, etc... The fun parts :)

I installed mine in an Ironman and had minor issues. I did not clock my winch but I probably will end up doing so. I took the solenoid box apart and matched 4 holes int he bumper and started drilling. I mounted the solenoid box in between the two holes for the offroad lights. It looks great there. Will post up some pics.

The cable on my 10k HF winch is getting pretty rusty. Is there a recommended way of keeping the rust off/ slowing down the rusting? And has anyone replaced the cable on theirs?
