Great cause with a side benifit of meeting new friends, great people and getting together with old friends. I was impressed with Joni's willingness to jump into whatever task Rob asked her to do AND how well Rob explained how and why to do it. Pretty tough keeping it together during Steve's introduction. A pleasure just talikng to Mr.Reeves during a break.

Still have to get some boiled peanuts to Rob.

I feel honored to be part of such a great group of cruiser addicts ( and future addicts).
 
This weekend

Hello All,
First and foremost -
I thought this build would be a few guys, a few tool, and some good times. It turned out to be a lot of new friends, with some really cool tools (some of them left behind) and many touching memories.
Marshall has forgotten more than I will ever know about FJ's and mechanics. Steve has the ability to organize and orchestrate in an effortless manner.
Rob's teaching style is truly humbling.
Thursday, we towed Josh's FJ to the build site. Tonight as I drove it out of the warehouse, I teared up. As I lead Jared, driving the FJ, with Katy following since the truck has no tag and only 1 working brake light, I teared up again.
I have spent the last 4 days working beside some of the best men and women I have ever meet. They gave their talents, their time, their money without expecting anything in return. America is a great country because of great individuals. I had the honor to spend some time with some great Americans these past 4 days. May God bless those who took part with this build. My family will forever be in your debt.
All I can say is thank you. This has been one of the most meaningful and touching weekends of my life. It has been so because of each of you.



Second - We arrived each day around 7:30 (except for today, we started late, - 8:00) We got home around midnight. (Today I got home around 7:00. I wanted to upload the photos each evening. I was too tired.)

Mr. Reeves thanks once again for letting us all be a part of this. All we need to do now is plan for the final build later in summer and get this all done. :cheers:

I want to quickly thank everyone who came out and made this event possible. As I have told many of you I never planned for this to be an event. I hoped to get three or four guys together to wrench for a weekend and thanks to everyone who showed up and thanks to all of our great sponsors this weekend became a huge event.

I'll post up a recap of the weekends events soon. I also have some pics but will be holding back a few for T4WDO and TT articles.

Count me in for the next build date, I can do the food thing again and maybe do some wrenching too.
 
I will see if I can make it for the next build date. I will bring whatever I need to.

I can donate some LED tail lights and some shackles if they are needed too. No idea why I have FJ40 parts!

did joni end up getting to put the wipers on??? i can see them installed in the pics! lol

I hope to be back - it was a once in a life time experience that I will never forget. I love meeting good, genuine people - everyone at that build site. I will miss the reeves, and everyone i met over the weekend... maybe I could stop by when I drive my truck from CT to MS sometime in march!

Ant - it was great having you there. You really helped out on Monday!

Yes, Joni did get to install the wiper. I looked over and saw her sitting on the hood and said "get those done right b/c you had better not crawl up there again after the paint job!" She really was a trooper along with James - they worked hard!

You are welcome to stay at my place in Travelers Rest also. I am just on the north side of Greenville SC.

Does anyone know what year truck the gas filler neck on the 40 came from? The gas cap that was on the 40 fits a gas filler neck that is in the parts stash and does not fit the filler neck that is currently on the 40. Was there something wrong with the original neck?

I worked on it.

The filler neck now on there is the correct one. I have an extra gas cap for it I will donate.

The old filler neck had a locked cap. That neck seemed like a '64 model neck.
 
Hello All,
Tomorrow the FJ will be insured and I hope to have the license plate read "BigRed1".
It seems like all I do is say thanks and I hope you guys don't get tired of hearing it. Because each time I say it, I mean it!
