I will help wherever I am needed.

Tiger, I mean Alex, no allegation made by me . . . inferences could be drawn however.:) Seriously though, we could use some SOR help on the interior including seats, foams, covers, a dash cover, and new visors. Do you want to join the interior crew with me? Looks like buckets of warm soapy water will be involved . . . tempting, eh?

I am attaching pictures JamesR took of the passenger seat presently in the truck. It looks to me like the aftermarket seats were attached to the original OEM base. Am I right?

As you can see, these seats really, really need to be replaced . . . .

Thank you so much David and JP!

Yes, we need donations. Currently we have $100 in donations from MUD members and $100 from my company, Two Springs Consulting, who is sponsoring the event. (shameless plug!)

We have been doing well on parts donations but we need $$$$ to make some of those parts useful so please donate!

Marshall, we are also getting a 4 spd tranny with the 1985 FJ60 2F that is sitting at ACC right now. As far as I know the tranny is good to go. How will this tranny effect our build from a tech standpoint?

The 2F is supposed to be a complete long block so we should have a good many good parts to work with. impossible, who donated the 2F has also volunteered to deliver the motor from ACC to Watkinsville - thanks Spence!!!

I got $250 pledged yesterday.... so that will be coming your way next week... I need to pick up the checks then I will post up who gave this money..... I hope to get more... I am telling everyone I know about this project and people are willing to give...

will that fit? we for sure need a new clutch kit in there, since it is all apart... should resurface the flywheel also.

I think the tranny is still mounted to the 2F so everything is in there. We could run it as is but it would be MUCH easier to replace the clutch etc while the 2F and tranny are out.

I'm focusing a bit more on the MLK weekend to make this 40 safe and driveable so I would rather spend the donation $ on a new clutch, brakes, gaskets, etc than paint if ya follow me. Do you think that is a good idea?

that is exactly what I would do.... lets get the difficult stuff done for him.... he has a few years to think about body work.... you will never get good body work and paint in one weekend anyway....

you will have to separate the tranny and take off the bell houseing to put the rear main seal in there anyway....

should find out if that tranny or transfercase is leaking.... now is the time if it is.... so much easier...

I will donate my clutch. I put a new clutch in my cruiser 3 weeks ago and found that my pressure plate is still like new. I will bring and we can decide whether this is suitable. Maybe Troll can chirp in on this?

Troll?

Wow, great progress in one day. Love it when a plan starts coming together.

Also agree that this would not be a good weekend for paint, but for getting the vehicle mechanically sound and driveable.

In looking at the pictures, it does look like the interior as well as the engine compartment could use a good cleaning and probably won't need new paint . . . if that is so, and with the engine and seats being out , we could scrub down/power wash/wax the engine bay and really clean the interior when the seats are out. Is that doable?

If all goes well on the seats, the interior crew could also work on clean up . . .

The Reeves have agreed to have the 40 sparkling clean before we arrive so that should really help. A good wax won't hurt after we get there though. The rust isn't that bad but at some point the rear sill will need replacing and after that some paint wouldn't hurt...but that is down the road.

Paypal site not working for donations Can you post an email address Thanks and is this build in Jan ???

Currently when you go to Upstate Cruisers the post is on our main page. The paypal donate link is twords the bottom of the article.

Or simply go here: Paypal Donate Link for BUILD A CRUISER FOR A FALLEN SOLDIER

After you click it you will brought to paypal's site.

Enter in the amount you wish to donate then click "Update Total"

Then login in as normal.

I used it after I put it up there and it worked fine for me, but I had trouble at first because of the not clicking "Update Total"

Please try it that way and let me know.

Thank you very much Rob.

I have a tire update. We are going to need around $500 for a set of 4 BFG tires unless someone has a good set of 33x10.5s (I believe 15" rim) that they want to donate or give a discount on.

Thanks again to everyone!
