OK - thanks. So the H42 that is on the current 2F or the 1F is what we are going with?

Won't we still need to switch out the bell housing for a 40 bell housing? And what kind of tcase do we need?

We will use the H42 that is in the garage along with the T-case that is attached to it. They also have the bell housing.

Might have found some Long Jump seat frames I will keep you update

As Forest Gump said, "That's good, one less thing!" As long as they are not rusted through and the hinges work, we are in business.. Thanks!

JP has emailed saying his front seat from a late 60s early 70s is available. Since we have some good vibrations from the left coast, do you guys know if that bench will fit a '72? (We aren't worried about the charcoal cannister in the seat, I think . . . .)

Thank you so much Georg. I think we need all of those except the 3 speed t-case!

You can ship the parts to me.

Brand new carb and dizzy thanks to Trollhole Cruisers and Two Springs Consulting
Gasket kit courtesy of apeterson and Two Springs Consulting
Running boards courtesy of apeterson
Labor to pull 2F out of donor vehicle by ACC Toyota
Much more hopefully to come...

WHO I NEED TO GET BACK TO ABOUT PARTS, ETC
ACC - special tools needed for build, if 2F needs anything
jsaltlick - parts needed
raYGunn - PayPal

We need to line up a large air compressor. Maybe rent one from a local rental company.

I have noted in red what I will bring as well as some other things that needed to be clarified.

Also do we need a clutch? Plus we need to give ACC some money to turn the flywheel down for us. Probably just get by with a new clutch disk, throwout bearing and pilot bearing. I'm sure the pressureplate is still good. ACC should be able to tell us.

Also the dizzy off the 60 would be better than the one I have.

Steve or David,
Sorry this is the first time I have even looked into the thread and I tried to skim thru it is quickly as I can....... I still have the bench seat and I believe a 3spd t/case if these items are still needed. You guys can shoot me a PM if you'd like.

Regardless looks like you guys are putting something special together and it kills me that I have to be out of town that weekend, but I will gladly donate what ever parts I have that ya'll need to make this happen.

JP

*edit * I also should have the headliner material and sunvisors although I will have to check on the condition of the visors.....

JP - sounds awesome about the visors and headliner material. Please check on those for us.

I think we are good on the t-case though.

BTW - your old 62 is up for sale! Want it back? :grinpimp:

I know you guys are also looking for a factory roll bar and are planning on using the long style jump seats...... I could be wrong about this but I believe you can not use the long style jump seats with a factory roll bar with out modifying the jump seats frames. That is why Toyota switched to the short style jump seats when they started installing rollbars.

With all that said I have an aftermarket roll bar out of my 1962 FJ40 that should work with the long style jump seats and I would be more than happy to donate that as well......

JP

Hello All,
I apologize for not posting sooner. As I read the progress of this HAMOM, I'm amazed and speechless. Each day I am touched by the response of the members of this forum and those who may not be members but have heard of this project. When Steve contacted me with the idea of Upstate Cruisers, other clubs, and the members this forum helping out, it never crossed my mind that the response would be this great. Two years ago when I first posted Josh's story I thought I could learn how to work on Josh's FJ and eventually get it running. I never dreamed that so much could happen in such a short amount of time. All Jean and I can do for now is say, Thank you. I look forward to meeting those that come down next month. If I can do anything for ya'll please let me know.

Update on a Gen-u-Ine '72 Front Seat

Looks like we have a "three-way" (deal) going on a genuine 72 split front seat in good condition. It involves 2 folks from Salt Lake City, one from Charleston, and me in Asheville, acting as sort of a Jay Leno. ATTENTION LOW COUNTRY CRUISERS: your assistance may be needed.
