This thread shows off some hammer tech starting about here:

I’m not much of a hammer guy. I have a 3 lb engineers hammer that I use for pretty much everything except hammering nails. But I thought I would try out the ball peen thing. Found this website where I got 5 Vaughans for about $62 + shipping: 32 oz, 24 oz, 16 oz, 12 oz, 8 oz. thought it was a decent deal.

Discuss?

Went about trying to find the hammers in this picture:

Found out the ones that have the most pictured are O.H. Industrial.

Sold here, 6 sizes available: 4 oz, 8 oz, 12 oz, 16 oz, 2 1/2 lb, and 3 lb

Cost a little more than 2x the Vaughans linked above.

It also appears that O.H. Industrial is the OEM supplier for TOYOTA hammers, and this is a 1 lb hammer.

I don't know a lot about hammers but I may have more than I need. I keep these three handy for regular use.

Seems the only hammers thread?

So after yesterday’s attempt at a bit of sheet metal work I realized I need more than a ballpein hammer and scrap steel to be effecitve.

Looking for any suggestions on the basic hammer/dolly to buy for future efforts.

Do I really need a full set or is there a good brand to look at?

Cheers

Did you decide on anything?

^ W, those are nice, what end are you using for beating on sheet metal?

a number of years ago i was at an estate sale for a lifelong railroad man…
he liked hammers.

this video was after two days of people buying out some of his hammer collection.

his son said this room and several other storage containers were full…

i bought i think about a dozen out of the hammer room that day

I realize I never posted a picture of the vaughans after they arrived. They’re pretty nice. It’s been about 3 years and the 16oz gets the most use though I think I’ve used them all at least once for something. Got a set for my dad too; he likes made in USA stuff.

Actually as I said in the first post. This thing has driven everything from tent stakes to oil seals

Even the simplest tool deserves a Thread!

Actually two of my favorite, most well-loved tools below. Bought the 3+ lb BFH years ago in a pinch when our old wooden handle let go...the weight, handle, and short throw make it perfect under the truck and on the bench, love it.
And of course the old indispensable plastic/rubber combo hammer. I probably use it more than I should.
