I've already setup an old computer with linux and an RTL-SDR dongle so I can run it as an RX only igate. Just need to run some coax in to the house and down to the basement and it'll be done.

Yes sir! I have been reading up on all the HAM stuff for longer than I had been studying for the test! My inner nerd has really come on with this stuff. I love the idea of an independant wireless network.
