I had a leaky transfer case and rear main seal in my 1985 FJ60 and wanted to replace the transmission while they had the tranny and transfer case apart. I bought a brand new from Toyota, OEM H55F 5 Speed transmission to install in my 1985 FJ60. Part Number: 33030-60450

My mechanic is no longer up for the job after getting into it more and wants to repair the transfer case but then bolt it back onto the original 4 Speed where he knows it will fit perfectly. So I am selling the H55F, still brand new, still in the original packaging/box from Toyota.

I am looking to sell it for what I paid $2,999. The tranny is on Long Island, NY and I am happy to deliver it to anyone located with 50 miles to save them the cost of shipping. If you are located outside my local area, you would also need to pay for shipping.

Post some pictures or no one here would believe you, is your mechanic the only mechanic that can swap a 5 speed? Since your new to the forum Welcome :flipoff2::flipoff2::flipoff2:( Mud Welcome). Show some pics of your rig too.;)

find someone else to do the job. if it is an 85 with the long trans it is an easy swap, the transfer needs to come apart to be re-built/sealed anyway.
Mark on long island should know someone who can do the work
@woytovich should know someone

I connected with Mark and he was great and gave me his guy. I may still go that route but now I already have my mechanic on it with everything repaired so I would be paying twice for the work to remove the tranny, etc. If no takers on the h55F I may just suck it up and get it put in by someone else but would prefer to sell it at this point. I have the shift lever, plug, oil pipe and all other parts for the swap. All in original packaging and brand new

This is the worst reason to sell something. It’s a direct bolt in.

OK, you guys have convinced me to keep it. Marking this is SOLD so others don't reach out but I will figure out a path to getting the swap done. I really want the extra speed and to lower the temp of the engine when driving on the highway. Thanks for setting me straight.

The h55 is the ticket with an fj60. Reach out directly if you want me to get involved talking to my mechanic. You are very local so I'm sure we could get it transported for little money.

If he doesn’t believe you, that’s fine. But i wouldn’t trust your vehicle to him.

I did this swap on my late 87 and it was a true bolt in. Nothing changed and we had it done in a day.

I’ve done it on an 84 and an 84. The 87 needed different driveshafts that we had ready in advance, along with a new t case linkage and I ground the bellhousing to fit. No issues.

It’s not a big job on these trucks.
