This has probably been asked before but I couldn't find it specifically. I have an 85 fj60 and am looking at an 83 parts rig mostly for the 5 speed and diesel engine. Will this trans work for me without major modification?

Maybe to make it easier for you before you go through the link shared by cruisermatt : If you parts rig is a 1983 + diesel, then it is a BJ60 with a 3B. The transmison output shaft do not fit the 2F.
The trans input shaft (21 spline) and bearing cover will not fit work with the FJ60 (10 spline) though it's possible to convert.
