This suggests that the GX lacks a rear locker except for the two "Overtrail" trims.
Pretty sure that's correct. That's what the overtrail trim is supposed to be, the most "capable" one.

#10 on my local dealer list for the LC250. Placed a $1000 deposit. Have not picked out any specs yet, as they said ordering information is not out yet. Placed the deposit in Aug, shortly after the release annoucement.

Dont care much for color, white or grey. Going with the most basic package. Not a fan of extra bells and whistles. Cloth seats do just fine.

No relationship with this dealer. Hope they dont charge above MSRP!

Why would they ever charge above MSRP when they have these huge waiting lists of sheep waiting to be slaughtered?

Easy, if they charge over MSRP, my name comes off the list. If everyone did this, we wouldn't have as big of a problem.

Lexus dealer called me yesterday to make a final selection on trim and colors. Originally I was open to both luxury + and overtrail+. Ended up going with overtrail + with incognito being my first color selection. He did not know of final pricing or timing but was surprised he was being asked to get final wants this early in the process. Perhaps things are running ahead of schedule and cars might show up the end of this year ? I was planning on Jan to Feb 2024

I’m in the Houston area as well. Which dealer was this out of curiosity? Bought a few from Northside.

Is a GX550 considered a 250?

Like how the 2023 and older land cruiser Prado and GX460 are both ‘150’ series?

Yea it is

That tracks with what my dealer told me, expect the vehicles to arrive mid January to early February
Yep.

TX came out about 2 months after training.

So that matches for GX.

Thought I'd give a quick update...

Dealers should be getting demonstration 550s within the next month or so. This is before they get their official allotment. This makes sense as the first-drive embargo lifts on 2/1...great time to have demo vehicles on lots to further drive up excitement.

I was also told that in late February they will get a much more concrete idea on what mix of vehicles they have been designated. As previously stated, factory is focusing predominantly on luxury and overtrail trim...overtail+ (and other +) will be in much smaller percentage. Dealers also said that the deposits and reservations they have been taking have been luxury and overtrail with customers already taking 2025/2026 allocation dates!

Talk about some very strong demand for the vehicle!

We will see what 'Demand' means when the dealers release there SRP and how much the 'market adjustment' and interest rates affect buyers. Ford sold a lot of high priced Broncos and is currently left with about 16K 2021-2024 lower end models and they are adding a third shift to produce more.

Most local Ford dealers around here have 8-10 Broncos sitting out front. Seems like all of the folks who paid way over MSRP 2-3 years ago may have done the equivalent of lighting a pile of money on fire for the privilege of having a cool vehicle (with delaminating hard tops and other issues) for a year or two, and are now stuck with something pretty commonplace.

Either way, for any of us who don't have a pile of money to light (or who do and don't want to light it), it seems like a best bet to wait a couple of years for the price to come down and the reliability question to get answered.

If the marketing video is correct, they are allocating only 33k units this year. That isn’t much and a way to help control demand and product expectations.

It might be all they can produce. When we bought our Highlander in early 2023 the lots around here were maybe 25% full. When we started looking in early 2022 they were more like 5-10% full. Now they are maybe 50-75% full, and it took Toyota much longer to catch up than lots for Big 3 dealers.

I normally wait for a second model year. I did buy the first model year of the 4 door Tacoma, way back when. TMC did make improvements pretty quickly. The drive seat sucked in that model year and the back doors were too small for tall people. I sold it a few years later when I got laid off.
