Blacking out the logos

Logo black out continued...

Nice! I like the blacked-out look- what's going on with the knife, though? Did you use it to make sure you didn't lift off any paint when you pulled up the tape?

I used plasti dip to black out the logos. Basic procedure:
Mask closely, about 1/8th of an inch, around the logos
cover the area with newspaper
3 coats - 4 hours between each
use a utility knife to cut around the logos and on the inside of the logos
peel the excess around the logos and inside the logos using a toothpick.

Once it dries all of the way it is a very robust coating, it will survive car washes and rocks...

The end result is what you see. If I decide I want a different color later I can just peel it off the logos and redo it. My wife wants me to do a colorful L on the grill as a start...

Lime green!

Going under the knife a ton Stevenson lexus for TB/WP pulleys etc. plus front and rear diff and transfer case.

I just had same done - water pump, timing belt, trans and diff fluid - at Comprehensive on Evans. Mind telling what Stevenson charged?

Will do we come back down the hill and pick it up at the end of the week.

Chris

Careful with the knife man... I've plastidipped many, many emblems and have never used one. Wouldn't want to scratch your clear coat!

Outside the letters you shouldn't need to use anything. Inside the letters I'll use a tooth pick.

It occurs to me that I should update my build thread....
