Im guessin that is not somethin you would want to google search...

I filled up my 06 with 87 grade recently and noticed the GX is not as responsive compared to premium grade of fuel. I will never use Regular gas for this vehicle

I have a 2004 gx and use 87 octane. I saw this debate and tried 93 octane for 2 tanks. Didn't see a difference.

Then found this long video to verify my finding.

I am getting 14.5 city on re gular after 4 tanks. Bam!

I only use 87, and then the other day this happened... look what 87 octane did to my GX

go back to where you got the gas and tell them what it did

sorry it messed up your GX

ok now how about this. How do you calculate real mpg with lift and tires? I'm sure the stock mpg computer must be off right?

I use the stock tire size as a base, then multiply the odometer reading by whatever factor the larger tires are; then divide those actual miles by gallons.

For example: my current tires are 5.2% larger than stock, so if I drove 100 odometer miles, that's actually 105.2 miles. Then divide that by gallons pumped in to get actual mpg.

Needless to say, I do this in a spreadsheet to keep the running tab.............

No idea - I don't ever change the display from outside temp. I don't know that it is programmable.

That's the way to do it.

The computer never seems right. Just do the calculation of how many miles the computer thinks you went, divide by gallons to fill - then multiply by 1.052. See how close or far from the computer calculation it ends up being.

34"s are 12.4% larger if anyone needs the math lol

Just got me 07. Decided to try running regular especially because I was at altitude (~6000ft). Half a tank in the truck threw a CEL. Screens from my OBDII app attached showing a slight air leak. Is it possible that the computer interpreted either the octane or the altitude as that error? Cleared the codes, filled with premium and haven't had a CEL since. Also haven't tried regular again.

The altitude changes the pressure in your tank. Its your gas cap

If Im not mistaken, the higher altitudes actually have the effect of increasing the octane level of your fuel...
