Thought I'd do a quick shout out and see if anyone would be interested in ordering some carpets for their 80. I'm in the middle of soundproofing, linex'n, re-leathering, re-headlining, basically redoing the interior and thought I'd go ahead and pick up new carpets as the PO had a serious windshield leak that I'm sure put mold and mildew down in the rug.

So long story, made short anyone interested? I'm buying the carpets out of Australia so the shipping is pretty high but if I had 10 people interested I could likely work out something with the seller. I'm in the N. VA area, and thought maybe I could get IPOR to work some magic as well we'll see.

Are these carpets OEM or OEM quality? ........Why are you ordering
them from down under? I was just about to look into some new carpets.

I'm pretty sure they are OEM quality. Mr. T carpets are very expensive upwards of $1000. I wanted a lower price option. They are molded for the 80, and should be pretty easy for the DIY install.

Main reason for both LineX and carpets is for different use case. I want new carpets for the front half of the truck, and I'm considering LineX'n the rear part of the truck. I'm not putting carpet down on LineX if that is what you were thinking.
I'm not 100% on lineX for the rear either to be honest. I had my entire roof done and it's outstanding. Really added some much needed rigidity and structure to the literally paper thin roof.
However, I'm considering sandwiching 1/8" steel, layer of SecondSkin MLV, and a layer of rubber for the back compartment. I'm wanting to set myself up for a safety barrier/roll bar between passengers and rear compartment, and I'd like to have the ability to build a solid steel box for the rear. That's probably a whole other thread.

I bought a new OEM front carpet section from gotmud this summer for about $450 IIRC. As you would expect, the fit and colour were perfect, and the install was really easy.
 
Ok, here is what I know. Basically there is little movement in the price of carpets. About 20.00 per unit if qty 10. However shipping can be halved.
The shipping to the states is roughly 145.00 per 5kgs and two rugs are about 5kgs.

The units i'm looking at now are from Moulded Car Carpets from All Car Carpets - Moulded Car Carpet & Vinyl
They are a bit more money but they can be ordered with water proof lining. So I'm looking at 270.00 for the Front/Back carpets.

If one other person would like to split the international shipping with me awesome. Ideally there would be someone in the Virginia area.

Scalci they have both left and right hand drive options and i believe they are the same price.

Fzjconvert I'm not sure on the vinyl aspect but I know the AUS folks do this to their rigs. This out fit does provide that option but I haven't inquired.

You guys may want to get together and share the shipping. Not sure how far apart you guys are, but you should be able to save 70 on shipping, and around 2 on the tax. Not sure if you guys are interested in full carpets or just the front/rear etc.

The group buy probably only makes sense if we have several folks in the same area because if I get 10 carpets I still have to stick them in the mail for ya'll. Probably not saving much at that point.

I got another $20 off the carpets by having them remove GST since it's international.

At this point those in a similar geographic area may want to get together and share shipping.

I figure I'll put an order in, I'm getting the water proofing and let everyone know how they look.
