I would probably get one if it comes out.
I do wish there was some easy way to get a better screen.
I really can't see the screen well during the day when trying to back up
I will keep playing with the settings but I don't know if it's glare or I have not found the sweet spot in brightness and contrast for daytime
But it's fine at night!

I'm very interested in this when it comes out. If I was closer I would absolutely do the beta. Even at the full price its not bad compared to the cost of double din head units from reputable brands.

I believe the VLINE is a "black box" that sits behind the scenes, you continue using all the other components in your Nav-equipped rig including the MFD

If you get this installed, do you have to pay a monthly fee to be able to use it?

From the website: "Discount on the unit (If you decide to keep it after the testing) includes GPS, cables, 2GB data prepaid for two months"

It sounds like there is a monthly data fee. Makes sense if the unit can operate apps that require data with or without being connected to a smartphone.

My bad I didn't see that

I'm not local to them, but I signed up for the beta. I would be the typical Land Cruiser person to give the beta too since I will install myself. We'll see what hapens!

I believe getting a data package is optional, as is WIFI. The cost would be the big determining factor for me.

No beta for me. The need physical access to the vehicle. Man I hope this pans out! I would like an option other than the VIAS Tech I have installed now.

Well, I got a little excited when I saw that GROM had announced the release of their VLine product for Lexus:

Then I noticed that (unlike the beta list at VLINE Next generation Infotainment Center for Lexus/Toyota - Beta-test sign up ) the LX470 is now completely absent from the list of compatible vehicles (on the LEX5VL1):

I don't feel quite so warm and fuzzy now...

(According to GROM they're "still currently working on supporting the older GEN4, and maybe GEN3".)

so-- for 299$ I pre ordered and paid. I don't know what happened about the 699 price. This feels a lot like a kickstarter thing with hopes and dreams and months of BS. BUT, I'm sure there will be all sorts of web s*** about installs.
If it's GPRS I wouldn't bother with a data sub. UTMS maybe if it was cheaper than an lte prepaid att for 42$. IDK, whatever. I don't even know if they have cellular capabilities other than hotspotting.
does anyone know why the price is now 299 instead of 699?

EDIT** on the compatibility tab there are no LC's listed at all. I'm going to email them

Because the units they just released are for gen 5 head units. We have gen 4 and gen 3.

They have a gen 4 in the works still....so they say
