I think it would be beneficial for everyone interested to email grom, the more interest they see the more it could help bring it to market

Also, if they respond with anything other than " it's in the works " etc maybe post it up so we arent too sad they dont release it.

Can you post their email? Would like to make sure it's going to the right person/department and not someone's spam folder.

Great idea btw.

latest email from them:

"Generation 4 Navigation system that we are still in development stage for.
We are hoping to have it ready for release in 1-2 month. It is still in the beginning stages of testing."

I signed up to be a VLine beta tester and Grom mentioned they were still waiting for interface cables for the Gen 4 Nav system. This was a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully they arrive soon because I'm anxious to check it out.

I have a 2003 GX with Nav and have an appointment Thursday at Grom for the beta install. So that should give some hope to '03 owners. Will report back if there are any issues.

Would you mind posting a few photos of everything when it's installed? I'm sure they make you sign a confidentiality agreement but....unless they say " do not share with all the awesome folks on mud " I think it's fair game....:)

Yes! Please give us updates!

when I emailed GROM Tech Rep ~2 months ago (offering to beta) it was clear they were concentrating on GEN 4 and *might* get around to GEN3 sometime later. IIRC a '03 GX470 is GEN3 equipped... can you confirm what GEN you have (for the rest of us GEN 3 outcasts)? otherwise we're all stuck another year on the island of misfit toys

Happy to confirm... um how do I do that? :)

Been a busy week but here's a quick update for those interested. First off I have Gen 2 version 05.1 nav, and went to Belmont Thursday for the beta install. I'll break the experience so far into 2 parts.

Part 1- the install experience. I made an appointment online to drop off my car and receive a rental for the day while they did the install. Drop off 9:30, pickup 5:30p. I showed up in Belmont Thursday morning and the guy and gal there were very nice. I walked the install guy through my current setup (Grom BT module and Navtool). He let me know some of that would be disabled for now as the VLine has BT but doesn't support backup camera yet. Ok no problem. Signed some paperwork, etc. He told me the unit would sit in the glovebox for now in case I decided no to keep it. The "rental" was the install guy's car which was a dirty, smelly old Volvo. Not exactly what I was expecting but I'm not a proud person so whatever. Back at 5:30p and my car is ready to go with VLine installed and my Grom unit in the console.

Part 2- the VLine review. So while the guy is showing me how to use it (replaces the CD function) it's already buggy and not working. Have to shut off the car and back on twice before it works. Ok it's beta- I get it. But I just auth $399 on my card and if I keep this thing then they keep $199. It's working as I take off. Has CarPlay (which is what I wanted to use) and Google Auto and of course the Grom interface. The CarPlay worked for about 15 min and then while playing with the options suddenly no audio at all. Pulled over, restarted the car and after a few attempts it's working. For about 20 min. I decide to run the "updates" from the menu to see if that works. Google Auto installs and works for about 10 min. Then I get an error that "Unfortunately System UI has stopped". I've unplugged everything, restarted the car several times and nothing helps. It takes multiple attempts even for the unit to take over the Nav screen. It's a total piece of crap and all I can get is audio when plugged in. Useless. So after 4 days I'm ready for them to remove it. What a waste of time.

Thanks for being a guinea pig, this is part of beta testing. They use the feedback, etc to improve the product. Hopefully they'll dial it in for us...
