On a different site it was suggested that the SCREEN alone could be swapped for a newer hi-rez screen as the harness is the same. Don't think it would make a difference when using the factory controls on screen B/c that doesn't change but it would be capable of the higher rez function of the Grom. $150 for the screen alone.

Oh man I hope this pans out. I have phone integration right now, but to be able have something is actually of this decade will be a huge hit in my book. I hope it can do the climate controls.

Yeah, will it have climate controls??

Bummer, I just installed the VAIS unit. Honestly though I don't know that I'd shell out the dough though for this even if I hadn't bought the bluetooth. The outdated dash is mildly annoying to me but not $700 annoying. I am happy though that there are options being developed.

Kind of my thoughts too. I'd jump at $400, but $700 is pushing it

I'm in the same boat. I have the VIAS bluetooth and Sirius tuner. I'm pretty content but would like it to be more updated. Not sure its worth 700 though.

I really hope the GROM works out, I guess if they are making units available to the public for testing they may be ready to go to market in 6-12 months? I have no idea how agile GROM is or wants to be. Having an 03 I'd be disappointed if our MY was indeed orphaned in its current configuration. $700 for the VLINE + potentially having to screw around with the 03 display and it's driver is probably a bit much for me.

can you share that other site info? assuming it's legit I'll buy & install the screen and pursue the GROM VLINK beta given the potential interest of all us 2003 UZJ100 owners who are looking for contemporary solutions

i don't care for the resolution as much as the added function. 03 camp here. my usa spec BT box is good, but i know it can be better.

yeah the screen res isn't my motivator either but it's seems to be a pre-requisite for VLINE...

beta-testing 2001-2003 Nav-equipped -100 is on hold... the GROM Tech folks reinforced that are focusing their VLINE development for "GEN4" (2004-2007) for now, with the possibility of "GEN3" (2001-2003) in the future... maybe. also, the path to retrofit GEN3 into GEN4 is technically complex and ill-advised, involving much more than simply replacing the MFD screen :bang: so, if you've got a GEN4 and are not far from GROM in the San Mateo area in south bay, go for it!

If anyone watching this thread knows what's involved in retrofitting a GEN3-to-GEN4 please jump in, I'm still game to pursue it

I know this is for the hundys but I've got an 04 GX470, any chance this would work for me?

I'm not exactly within 50 miles but I can be to the shop and back in a day and could go down for testing.

send an email to vline.beta@gromaudio.com stating your make/model/year and I'll bet they respond tomorrow

$700 isn't bad at all for a head unit. Especially if it will get rid of the dated look my 06 LX has. I have VIAS Tech installed already, but would happily get this thing if it pans out.

I want. But my 04 display looks really low res.

Is this what they are offering update to?

The resolution would stay the same unless you replaced the screen yourself with one like @therealdutch posted.

This would just update the operating system. Think of it like an update to your phone. None of the hardware changes, but you'll get updated features such as android or apple auto.
