**SOLD***
It has been many years since I have been on this site so forgive me if this post is incomplete and please feel free to reach out to me with any questions.
For Sale (reluctantly) is my 1978 FJ40. My daughter is 14 and I need the garage space and need another vehicle that she can comfortably drive in a few months. I have had this vehicle for 10-11 years but it has been in my family since 1979. My uncle's co-worker bought it new, then his wife got pregnant and he sold it to my uncle. He had it until I bought it. Minor restoration done about 20 years ago, then it sat for 7-8 years. I got it and went through it little by little. Although I've had it for 10+ years, I haven't put but a few thousand miles on it. ODO shows 89789 but, it stopped spinning the last digit. The tenth of mile digit rotates so I think a gear is hung up.
It has the original 2F engine in it but the smog pump was not running when I got it so it has been de-smogged. I added a 2 1/2" Old Man Emu lift and 33/10.5/15 wheels and tires a few years ago. The winch with synthetic wire was also added then. I just put a new battery in it (March 24) since it was sitting for the last few years. Always stored in the garage. New battery and it fired right up. Recently had Trollhole Cruisers replace the master cylinder and adjust the brakes. They have done any necessary repairs (not many) on this vehicle since I have had it. (He's not gonna be happy when he sees this classified post because he said I'll regret if I ever sell it). I also converted it to a Trollhole Carb and it was a great conversion. Runs really well now. Seat extension bracket was added to the driver's side. I am 6' 5" so I needed that.
This 40 has some of the typical rust spots on it. The read passenger ambulance door has rust on the bottom of it. However, I have a complete new ambulance door for it. The paint doesn't quite match so I never installed it. Front bib has rust but I also have another bib but it would need restored (painted). I have a new ash tray door, new glove box door, new side emblems as well (stickers are there now). All this will come with the truck. For the past few years, I have pulled the hard top off every spring so I also have a tailgate insert. It's nothing fancy but it's functional. It is stationary, bolt on. Bimini top and channel will also be included. I also added different mirror brackets so you can have functional mirrors when the top is off. I still have the factory brackets but the holes currently have bolts in them on the door when not in use. (Seatbelt shoulder mounts have also been relocated) Front Seats are all there but will need re-covered if you want to restore it. Currently just have covers. This is a great vehicle if someone wants to jump in one and drive it today. I had it running 65-70 on the interstate yesterday while my truck was in the shop. This would also make a great base for a full restoration, I just don't have the energy to do it and the family has needs that I have to consider. I am sure I missed some stuff but ask me questions or send me messages if you want. I am asking $22,500 for it with the extra ambulance door, front bib and all other parts/accessories that I have.

I can't figure out how to add more than 5 pics so let me know if you would like more!

Looks pretty nice from the small photos we can see! A bit far from me, sadly. Good luck with your sale!

Pat from Bowfin is slowly collecting all of the great 40s

If the ambulance door has rust and needs to be replaced does that mean the rear sill has some rust also? TIA

@pondjumpr Jeff - truck looks good from what I can see so far. Can you post more pictures of the interior and undercarriage, door bottoms, and rear sill? You can attached 5 pictures per post.

My wife's college roommate was from Greer. Nice town.

Quick, but I'm not surprised at all. Figured the first guy there would buy it. Looked solid from the pics that Jeff posted. Congrats @pondjumpr Hope the new owner posts up about the truck.
