Yeah, but this guy doesn't exactly give any pointers on soldering, not to mention he does say to solder
the join. I guess we could scour youtube for the other 3,837,937 videos on how to solder and twist wire.

You can get heat shrink at Princess Auto in all kinds of sizes.

Question to all:? Is there any kind of differences in heat shrink? Some sell it way cheaper than others, like
Princess Auto. Do you or has anyone felt one worked better or some were just junk? I've never seen a difference myself

I like the stuff with the goop that melts out and seals everything. It's definitely more expensive. There are also different wall thicknesses, shrink ratios, dielectric strength, etc. No, they are not all equal. And no you don't always get what you pay for.

I know the stuff I got at the marine place in Nanaimo was really good when I did my dual battery, rear winch,
and all on the 60. The Princess Auto stuff is lighter for sure, but ok for doing driving lights and stuff I guess.

The stuff with the goop is nicer for sure, I tend to get it at Harbour Chandler, they have a pretty good electrical section in the back for DC wiring. Despite the "marine" tax they're generally pretty reasonable.

I've cheated in the past (and probably will again... )and added my own goop before shrinking it when I've got the cheaper PA type.

Especially on external boat stuff.

You can feel it when you hold a piece of double wall compared to the thinner single wall, the goop or bonding agent does melt into the wire casing making a great seal..I use to buy it in four foot lengths from Lordco for a decent price.

Thank you, I couldn't remember their name, D'oh! The people that work there are good at thinking outside the box too.
Doing fab work on trucks is like boats to them, so they will try to help out with electrical knowledge as well.
