The cheap Autozone types have done ok with me.

If you have difficulties, this should take care of any problems. :D

Cheapies have worked well for me, but it's all about finding the right approach angle to get to the zirks. You may need to roll the truck a few inches to get the a better angle, especially the ones in the joints near the T-case.

And I wouldn't suggest putting any grease in the zirk that's at the end of the spline. Some may disagree but if you take your driveshaft off, mark it, then pull it apart you'll see that the grease you pump in there doesn't really go where you need it, only loads up at the end of the splines preventing the driveshaft from compressing placing unnecessary force against the pinions possibly causing seal failure and/or t-case issues. Sure that's a little paranoid but you can't deny that pulling the shaft & manually lubing the splines once a year isn't a more comprehensive PM job, and it doesn't take that long. IMO, hth!

Hmm... that sounds more effective. I don't see why I shouldn't be able to that. I was going to pull the drive shafts out any way to inject grease through the zirks. Leaving them on and trying fight with the zirks seem painful to me. Any recommendation on what grease to use? I was going to use the valvoline synthetic wheel bearing grease I used for my birf job. I still have couple tubes left.

Thanks

When I grease my CV driveshafts I remove them and put grease into the knuckle with the CV joint bent open. Takes a fair amount. I don't seem to get much grease in using the needle valve. Had one wear out due to lack of grease, so I am very anal on removing and greasing at least every 3000 miles.
Cheers,
Sean

The HOT setup for greasing the u-joints is a pneumatic grease gun and a needle adapter. The adapter lets you get into the tight space, and you can easily fire the gun one handed while holding the adapetr firmly in the hole of the zerk fitting. It works simply 100% teriffic!

I do grease my slip joints using this gun - I give them about 3 shots and never have any trouble. When they get a little noisy and I grease then they get quiet, so I know the grease is getting where it should.

BTW WalMart sells a high-quality air gun for around $30 if I remember correctly.
